This is interesting. The linked article portrays Adelson as essentially a single-issue donor — his focus is on maintaining U.S. diplomatic and military support for Israel above anything else. It’s interesting that he would back Trump, perhaps the least doctrinaire candidate on Israel that we have seen in quite some time. Trump is out of step with the mainstream “support Israel at all costs in everything” view shared by most American politicians — he has already said that he wants to remain neutral between Israel and Palestine and he has even argued that Israel is in part to blame for the failure to cut a deal. These are statements that should logically put him at odds with Adelson.

Of course, Trump’s actual views are so hazy and shifting that it’s perfectly reasonable that he will pivot back to the mainstream consensus, if given enough money or hell if someone else asks him the question in a different way a few minutes later.

Yes, Trump’s views are hazy, for sure. He’s like a political Rorschach blot; his supporters seem to see what they want to see, remember what they want to remember, filter the rest out.

Trump will tell anyone anything he thinks they want to hear, and I’m sure he fed Adelson a load of reassuring pro-Israel crap. Plus Trump hates Muslims, and he’s the only Republican left standing, so Adelson’s money has no other place to go.

      It’s gross.

I was under the impression that Sheldon Adelson also wants to have his taxes slashed above all else. Spending $100 Million to save a billion dollars in taxes is a good investment. Also, he’s extremely anti drug because his son died of an overdose. He poured an unprecedented amount of out of state money into Florida to shift public sentiment against a medical marijuana amendment last year (it failed by 2%).

This is simply a petty, trivial observation, but why would you even bother dyeing your hair if your face looked like that? Come on.

    Honest question:

Why are Republicans supporting Trump over Hillary? He’s fickle, historically liberal, and obviously dumb. Hillary is relatively to the center of the political spectrum and much more predictable. Are US politics just a team sport, now?

Because Trump is the GOP nominee and Hillary is a focal point for their hate and derangement.

Yes. Win at all costs no matter what your candidate really supports. Hillary is a Reagan wet dream republican.

Sheldon Adelson would be a heavy-handed caricature if he was fiction. The world will be a better place when that piece of human trash finally dies.

Here’s a charming story about the presumptive GOP candidate Donald Trump in today’s New York Times. Someone has to take this buffoon down, and now. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/15/us/…

The voters will take him down in November.

Don’t let the media fool you into thinking he has a chance. If Hillary wins the states that have gone blue 3 of the last 4 elections, Trump can win Ohio, Florida, and Virginia and still not win.

Meanwhile Democrats are quietly talking about flipping red states with large Latino population, like Texas.

McCain said it himself. With Trump at the top of the ticket, states that traditionally go red are in play for Democrats now.

You’re much more optimistic than I am. I see a sea of idiots in his base mobilizing the vote for their leader, and to them nothing matters about him, his avoidance of facts, his attitude toward women, his lack of any foreign policy background, or tact for that matter. He’s been working them for a year at least, he’s even said he was just kidding or playing around, or he was just making suggestions. These idiots are tired of what they think of as being edged out of the picture, ignored, overlooked, discriminated against, despite that they’re white and live in one of the best countries in the world, if not the best. In the catbird seat without even realizing it. And that’s why they’re idiots.

Will this overt change in how Trump obtains his overt change, change his supporters’ sing-song?: “I likes Trump cuz he don’t take funds from nobuddy and so doesn’t owe nobuddy nuth’n! he’s self-funding!!” ...shall we hold our breaths?

Pretty sure Trump could eat a baby live on CNN and not lose a single vote from the people who already believe in him, because something-something political correctness, something-something tells it like it is.

The whole thing is ridiculous pantomime.

How much do you want to bet that the background music that was used whenever Emperor Palpatine had dialogue with Darth Vader just spontaneously starts playing out of every nearby speaker when this guy opens his mouth?

They will willingly piss away hundreds of millions in a losing gamble but complain about spending one extra dollar on taxes. Seriously, fuck these guys.

Isn’t that some shit? They waste millions upon millions of dollars on presidential politics, and then complain about some measley taxes. If they new what was good for them, they’ve mainline ALL of their money into keeping Congress gerrymandered forever.

But, hey, the more they keep this money out of House races, the better for us.
