I want this fictional spokesperson thing to be the thing that sinks him. It won’t. But I want it to be.

(Edit: It’s the lead story on ABC’s nightly news fwiw)

No, it has to sink him just enough to stay in. Nobody needs Paul Ryan greasily backing into the nom at the convention at this stage.

Sinks him? It’s freaking hilarious. It ADDS to his legend/persona/entertainment value.

I am still confused why it would be bad if he pretended to be a spokesperson for himself. The other way around (a spokesperson pretending to be the person s/he is speaking for), alright. But this...shouldn’t Trump just be like: yeah, I did that, I am my own best spokesperson, of course. Whatever!

Because impersonating someone else is deliberate misrepresentation, ie he’s a lying liar who lies.

Yes. But we already knew that he lied. This is a funny lie, and one that isn’t remotely problematic. Embracing this lie would help inoculate against other lies. He could just say that the media attacked him for speaking for himself.

Someone mentioned it before, but the best way to destroy a narcissist is to hold up a mirror to lies like this until they crack.

Fortunately it isn’t hard to crack a mirror held up to Trump...

That would be great if Trump was actually held accountable for any of things he says and does.

That strategy will work really well when it’s Moscow or Beijing on the line.

I wonder what will happen when Moscow or Beijing asks Hillary “if the man of the house is available” when they call.

Blood in the water. The media has given him free publicity for months but now that they have a huge weird and outright pathetic weakness of his to attack? This is going to be beautiful to watch. The more he evades and the more he does things like hang up on reporters, the more they're going to attack it because nothing gets ratings like the fall of someone so obviously terrible.

Ha, you’re probably right. They’ve spent almost a year building up Trump to be this scary, charismatic strongman who wants to fuck shit up. So it’s about time for them to start undercutting their own narrative about him because it’s gotten boring.

Only thing better for ratings than the rise of a personality is the spectacular embarrassing fall.

My prediction for the first Trump/Clinton debate; Trumps tanks horrifically, just doing his barking seal act, reads the headlines the next day, gets a big lip-on, refuses to debate anymore. Networks freak out, he goes on tour blaming the ‘lamestream media’ for being unfair, and his base doesn’t care.

It all comes rushing back to him, 60 years later: the crumpled garage door, the totaled family car, his father sarcastically demanding that “your good friend John Miller” apologize to him directly for the creating the mess, being packed off to military school when he couldn’t produce “Miller”, his mommy not intervening, and the tears. Oh, the tears!

Unproduceable, unsourced, and unconfirmed, the Trump Shibboleth.

It’s like some weird circus experiment, combining the DNA of Nixon and an Orange Julius (blended with 2 week old shrimp lo mein).

Yes, but it’s the classiest 2 week old shrimp lo mein, aged to perfection with his name picked out on each crustacean in gold leaf.
