His tax returns don’t matter. Nothing he says or does matters, because so long as he never wavers on the Muslim ban and building a wall, he’ll never lose his xenophobic, racist base. I’m more convinced than ever that Trump vs. Hillary will depress turnout to historically low levels as disgust with both candidates keeps everyone home. Meaning he wins in a landslide (because turnout will be closer to the turnout we get during midterms.) In the latest Reuters poll, nearly 20% won’t choose between Trump and Clinton. Those are people that are likely going to stay home on election day.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-poll-idUSKCN0Y21TN

In the most recent survey, 41 percent of likely voters supported Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, and 40 percent backed Trump, with 19 percent not decided on either yet, according to the online poll of 1,289 people conducted from Friday to Tuesday. The poll had a credibility interval of about 3 percentage points.

Trump and Clinton may depress turnout among white people. But that’s about it.

Minorities (especially immigrants), have been registering to vote in record numbers, and USCIS is seeing record numbers of citizenship applications. In the immigrant community (especially the Latino community), the anti-Trump sentiment is so overwhelming that turnout among Latinos will be higher than at any point in history.

It’s anecdotal, but the middle-aged Puerto Rican wife of one of my clients had me print her out a voter registration form because she said she wanted to vote for the first time in her life, against Donald Trump.

I think that’s mostly true, but there are also a good number of his supporters who believe that wealth and virtue are directly related; that great wealth accumulates to some people because they’re just so much better than the poors. They love him more because they think he’s “really rich”. If that’s not the case..

So I’m just reading this article and then all of a sudden, *BLAM* out of nowhere this little unicorn jumps in front of me:

the Bernie Sanders narrative: Sanders strides through the fallen world, untempted,

A Gawker writer taking a swipe at Sanders’ supporters?

How could it be so? Sanders is doing God's work, which means he is doing his best to cripple Hills for no practical reason whatsoever.

Trump has vodka? His appeal has gone up (not really) unless it is shitty vodka.

I liked how Rachel put it, that if any of these are the reasons you like Trump (self-funding, Muslim ban, etc.) - they’re all changing now.

He’s just “softening his stances” for the general, to appeal to the moderates. He is displaying, in a very strategic yet comedic manner, how easily duped the American electorate is, and how quickly opinions change in the modern news era.

It was a metaphorical wall, and a metaphorical muslim ban. Now the tax cuts for millionaires, on the other hand . . .

If we find out he is worth $150-$250 million, will his supporters care? If we find out that he has given nothing to charity, will his supporter care?

Serious question: what would it have to be for his core supporters to turn on him?

Millions in charitable donations to the Ground Zero Mosque(tm). That would do it.

I don’t think that does it. I really don’t. Nate Silver wrote a thing about how low educated (on the issues) voters are so hard to change. It would hurt him with some but not the core, at least I don’t think it would.

Tax returns are meaningless. Warren Buffet’s “income” is equal to 1 share of BRK-A. The rest is cap gains, carried interest, etc. When you’re wealthy to the extreme, you game the tax code by “owning” very little, being paid very little “income” and controlling vast resources that you use and benefit from for free.

You do know that all of those things are reported on tax returns right. Just because something is not taxed as income doesn't mean you pretend it doesn't exist when it comes tax time.

Sure, but they'd have to exist on a personal level and not on a corporate or trust level. The Trump Organization owns Trump Tower, I would imagine that he doesn't own the top three floors, he lives there as an executive perk, or pays rent controlled rates or some other crazy arrangement. Much like Hugh Heffner doesn't own the Playboy Mansion- the company does. Which is why when it's sold, the gain will be reported on the corporate return, not his personal return.

“Maybe because they’re not as big or beautiful as he’s led everyone to believe.”

Instead of the terrible nicknames Democrats have tried to append to Trump, I think they should just start calling him Millionaire Donald Trump. Over and over and over again until he cracks.
