    As a kid going to public schools in the 60's, you wouldn’t have realized the Russians played much of a part in winning the war. Looking back, it’s easy to understand their distaste for how our history books were written.

      Even through the 80s, there was very little mention given to the Russians and their involvement in WWII in the history books I was given in school.

        If we’re being honest Stalin’s 5-year plans were great accomplishments. He turned a largely agrarian society into an industrial powerhouse in a matter of 15 years. It’s just, y’know, all the murders.

          Ha ha ha yeah....no.

          “And a wake up” is military/prison slang. It means how many days you have left to serve (do your time) and the day you actually leave...the “wake up”.
