    As someone who may, right at this second have lyme disease (thanks hoarde of deer ticks that fed on my flesh, I ONLY WANTED TO SEE THE NATURE RESERVE);

    1. There is no such thing as chronic lyme disease. There is just perminant damage from having it for too long and

    2. I question if these ‘celebrities’ who claim chronic lyme disease have ever even been in a situation where you could possibly catch it. I mean seriously.

      Regarding #2 - A tick could have hitched a ride on one of their purse dogs. I’m not saying it is probable, just not impossible.

      #1 seems almost like semantics. Permanent damage from Lyme disease doesn’t seem like it would be all that fun.

    Chronic Lyme Disease is the latest made-up affliction affecting all rich people with nothing better to do than dream up vague symptoms and pay the quacks who benefit form it. Stop giving this bullshit press. It does nothing but make snake oil salesmen rich and confuse the public and negatively affect people who suffer form Lyme Disease: a real, curable disease. Chronic Lyme is a steaming pile of bullshit.

      I thought the chronic part was where you smoked trees 24/7 to help with the joint stiffness.

    She was on TV earlier today when I was in the lunch room. I really, really, REALLY wish we would stop giving non-doctors/non-scientists a platform to talk about medical issues. The “chronic Lyme” people are often as misguided as anti-vaxxers (and are frequently the same people).

      How about the “gluten sensitive” people? Medical science suggests you either have celiac disease or you don’t, and everyone who avoids bread and pastry but enthusiastically ingests beer and soy sauce is fooling themselves.

      I don’t think gluten-sensitivity is a thing, either (but I have Celiac so I’m super salty about this in general).

    I vividly remember the cargo pants episode and how they were so bewildered by the functional pockets.

      Oh man, it was such a guilty pleasure. Like the time she and Jaime (god, I even remember her name!) were asked to criticize the new Tommy collection and they tore it to shreds (not literally) in front of the design team.

      I just have been reading about it SO MUCH lately, from famous folks. Yolanda, not to mention her various children who she’s claimed have it. Avril Lavigne recently came out saying she had it, and now Ally H. It’s a lot of famous stories about lyme in short order.

      Maybe it’s that psychological effect where once you hear about something, it seems to keep popping up, but then again I never heard of a bunch of famous people getting Morgellon’s when I learnt about that.

    I’m doing this thing where each week I make dinner from a different country and I was basically Ally when I went to the Asian market for Myanmar week. “Um, I’m looking for, um, water spinach?” *Google a pic* “This, I need this” *store employee starts speaking a different language and laughing at me* “I’m sorry for bothering you...” Now I know to find the non-English name for products before grocery shopping. I don’t have Lyme disease, I’m just a little useless sometimes.

      Your best bet, in a produce section where you don’t know the language, is to just grab something that looks right.

      With canned goods and things, though, when the shelf labels are unhelpful the secret is to head towards whatever area looks promising and start checking nutritional labels.

      There’s a doc on netflix about hip-hop style called “Fresh Dressed” that is great - detailing in one small part how Hilfiger brought his shit down to the Bronx and gave it away to create demand. Recommended.
