I’m not surprised he’s so concerned about bathrooms given how constipated he looks in that picture.

On another note, I’m disappointed that the go-to consequence is “losing federal funding for schools.” I mean, I know that’s because they can’t give the funding to an organization that’s engaging in discrimination, but I also think it’s punishing the kids of North Carolina more than the government.

It’s unfortunate, but as the people’s representatives, they should know that that’s on them, not the people.

But of course they’ll spin it so it’s the Fed that are the “real” villains.

I don’t know how any of this works. They still lose the funding while the lawsuit is ongoing, right? Otherwise, I’m not seeing where the pressure point is.

This is the dumbest thing to fight over. These laws are not enforceable. Why is anyone making a stand on upholding a law that cannot possibly be enforced in any meaningful way?

He’a going to lose this and lose this hard, which is what they want. This bathroom bill is just a smoke screen. The really terrible meat of the bill makes raising the minimum wage in the state illegal and strips a ton of LBGT rights away, such as housing protection and medical care.

They want us to only focus on the bathroom part so the rest of it will go unchallenged. We can’t let them. The entire bill needs to be done away with, not just this reprehensible part of it.

I am surprised that the bathroom thing is what gets so much attention. The other aspects, especially the minimum wage, seem like they would affect a lot more people.

Oh, I see. It’s the federal government being the bullies here, not the state legislature that wants to force trans men and women into the wrong bathrooms.

    Yeah, okay.

I only ever had it once, about 20 years ago, and it was pretty damn good. Peach flavored, too!

I’m pretty sure it doubles as paint thinner and embalming fluid, though.

Has it ever actually occurred that a girl was assaulted in a restroom by a male to female transgendered person? ( I assume they aren’t worried that a boy would be assaulted by a female to male transgendered person)

No evidence has been found of a single instance where this was the case. In fact, the absence of any historical reason for concern is so glaring, it has even been called out by Chris Wallace on Fox News (can jump to the 2:10 mark):

For the sake of us North Carolinians who are embarassed by our legislature and governor, please don’t say “North Carolina” sues the US Government. In the lawsuit, it is GOVERNOR PAT MCCROY who is the named plantiff. Let him, the Republican legislators, and the idiots in the other parts of the state that elected them be held accountable. For most of us, November cannot come soon enough!

That’s a pretty important distinction. I figure most North Carolinians don’t give a fig about suing the Fed over this.

What an ass. Pat MIGHT be able to keep his seat if he had a sense of fairness and understanding of compromise, but that would appear weak. Asinine.

Thanks for agreeing. I think it is a particularly important point since Roy Cooper, the elected Attorney General, and opponent of Pat McCroy for the governorship has repeatedly stated he isn't going to defend the law or be involved in any litigation on its behalf. So McCroy is using taxpayer money to hire a bunch of private attorneys to do his bidding. So the lawsuit can only be on behalf of him and not the State. Great use of taxpayer funds, McCroy! How much are we paying per hour?

I’ll pull supporters to the polls this November, that’s what it’ll do. That’s what it’s designed to do — kick up a fight, and get the lunatic bigot base worked into a lather over “federal overreach” and “the gays”.

Also, even if the bathroom portion of the bill gets overturned, there’s been barley a peep about the parts of the bill the outlaw cities raising their own minimum wages, ans the part that strips all LGBT protections from the state, and prevent towns from passing their own.

Right! I thought the GOP was worried about jobs. I’ve lived in NC, and the factory jobs are not there anymore. Funny how they accuse our president of not worrying about the economy. Keep worrying about where to pee. No one will have any money to go anywhere to have to worry about peeing in public anyway.
