    I wonder how often native Spanish speakers chuckle when they look at seemingly nonsensical Spanish names given to certain things in any context .. i.e. “The Bears High School”.. (I realize the town itself is probably named Los Osos, which furthers the point :D)

    We have a really good Mexican restaurant in town called El Sombrero — Sounds like any other quintessentially authentic Mexican joint around here, but it doesn’t sound so exotic if one were to say “hey, wanna go to The Hat for dinner?”, lollllz.

      A Mexican friend and I enjoy making everything Spanish by putting ‘El’ in front of it. So we’ll say ‘El Hello’ and ‘Do you want to go get El Chinese Food?’

    I’m so scared for my Muslims friends lately. It’s just getting worse and worse. The level of hate speech people feel comfortable throwing out is just getting higher and higher, because there isn’t a real social penalty for being an anti-Muslim bigot in America yet.

    It seems pretty unlikely this was an accident. I hope they find and fire whoever did it.
