Goddamn I miss Rob Ford. He showed us all that you can be unqualified, slovenly, morbidly obese and a literal fucking crackhead, and still hold high political office.

I’m English but with an interest in your politics (blame The West Wing if I’m talking shit) and keep trying to tell people that Trump will never be president. People here are scared but also they’re laughing at you. We genuinely didn’t think you could go lower than Bush Jr. and right now he looks like a fucking statesman by comparison. Please don’t make me look like an idiot. There’s no way he can win nationally, right? The GOP’s lost 5 of last 6 popular votes and he alienates two for every one he attracts, right? His supporters may be passionate but that doesn’t mean they get to vote twice. There’s no way that buffoonish piece of shit carries the centre - and presidential elections are decided by the centre- right?

The fact it’s even got to this stage is to the eternal embarrassment of the Republicans. They had eight years and the best they come up with is Rubio and Cruz? Trump is the candidate they deserve. His run couldn’t exist if they hadn’t been sewing the seeds of hate for the last quarter century.

  Seriously, though, it’s going to be very, very, very hard for him to become president. Not only that, but we were already looking good to take back the Senate (and thus deliver a left-leaning Supreme Court), and a Trump nomination by the GOP only makes that more likely.
  
  So, now, we’ll only have the House of Represenstatives to embarrass us on an international level.

Meanwhile in Toronto, Rob Ford’s nephew Michael has resigned his seat on the school board after a year to run to replace his Uncle on council.

As a teacher in Ward 2, this pisses me off. Clearly Michael had no particular interest in education. He only ran for the school board after Rob was diagnosed with cancer, dropped out the mayoral race and started running for council instead. Michael had been running for the council seat, and switched to running for trustee.

This honestly doesn’t make any sense. Ford pulled quite a bit of his support from conservative ethnic minorities. On top of that, Trump has not even been the “small government” candidate this cycle, which was kind of Rob Ford’s thing. Donald Trump is talking about ridiculous spending increases and possibly defaulting on America’s debt. A fiscal conservative? Yeah, okay.

I can’t believe I’m actually indirectly making Rob fuckin’ Ford look better by comparison.
