Now would be a good time for someone, anyone to invest in starting a proper newspaper in Las Vegas. I’ll be first in line for a subscription.

I like newspapers but I don’t subscribe to any. I always thought it was because I’m one of those digital age millennials who doesn’t have a land-line (also broke, wheeeee), but maybe the real reason is that they mostly suck!

Bring on the good newspapers made by not-idiots!

You’re making it seem as if I’m decrepit and old. I like the routine of having a newspaper and all news are local to begin with. It also reminds me of my dad. I’ve had a subscription since my first apartment and thanks to Sheldon’s douchebaggery, stopped a few months ago.

    “the importance of company loyalty.”

Anybody who ever says anything like this is to be mocked and laughed at, nothing more. Loyalty to a company is for idiots and sycophants.

Loyalty to a company is for companies who’ve -earned- your loyalty. I worked for one of those once before and if the company was in my field, I’d have stayed with that company for as long as I could. They’re few and far between but they’re the ones who respect their employees, treat them well, and go out of their way for their employees. Usually companies who say “the importance of company loyalty” usually lie on the OTHER end of the spectrum than the companies you should be loyal to.

Good companies inspire employee & customer loyalty & make a profit.

Unfortunately, Adelson seems to want to run that paper into the ground...

The good news: America has invented time travel!

the bad news: America’s richest have used it to transport the country back to 1890.

Anyone with any talent and integrity will be gone soon. But, but, but......’It’s losing it’s best reporters’ - oh, the wincing!

I feel like he’s missing his calling in a remake of the sitcom ‘Major Dad’. What a major douche.

According to her.... But it sounds like she live reported an internal meeting, which she knew she wasn’t supposed to do. She was then fired like most people would have been.

But then we go into her thought process.... she lets it be known from the start that she is mixed racial so it must be the old conservative white guy who is racist. That’s why she was fired, yeah........

Sounds like she is young, emotional and possibly prejudicial for screaming racism; she believes that when older white men are involved in something she doesn’t like, it must be racist. (In itself prejudicial) Yet she was fired for doing something that she knew she wasn’t supposed to do. She has some growing up to do, she needs to learn professionalism.

A tangent from print media... Al Jazeera America which, in my opinion, was the only unbiased actual news channel around, just folded due to low ratings. It gave actual news, didn’t kiss everyone’s ass, and scoffed at punditry and spin. It was SO refreshing. But... the short attention spans and thirst for spin and sensationalism is ruining journalism. It makes me so sad.

“I think after nearly half a year, the RJ has to face the facts: The newspaper is bleeding talent left and right. It’s losing it’s best reporters week in and week out, and it won’t be long until everyone in a position of power is just a yes-man for the publisher.”

The paper has already faced those facts; they were the entire reason Adelson bought it in the first place. He has zero interest in it continuing to be a reputable news source, he’s content for it just to do puff pieces about him and his friends until it dies out.

Hilarious! That’s exactly what I thought when I saw the sign. Did the paper visit the hotel-sign graveyard in Vegas and just grab a castoff?
