Putting aside the fact that our justice system is incredibly unfair when it comes to doling out equal punishment to everyone regardless of race and socioeconomic status, “teenage sex play”, “malheur”, “this suffering is your condemnation/consecration”?! Besides being incredibly pretentious it’s also painfully lacking in self awareness.

      That was my same thought. I scoffed out loud. A 150,000 word masters thesis?! From a kid who is currently like a freshman in college. And then that thesis is going to get published?! What the fuck is this professor smoking because I want some of it. A 150,000 thesis is like 600 double spaced pages. The longest masters thesis I’ve ever seen in the humanities has been about 160 pages.

      No one’s shitty masters thesis gets published. Jesus, you’d be hard pressed to find a publisher for a stellar dissertation.

      And Oxford’s not going to want this sex offender on its rolls even if he does craft some magnum opus to Simone Weil (doubtful). So nice try, kid. Fifty bucks says his parents are the “anonymous donors” behind the anonymous professor’s endowed chair.

      Tangentially related: myou thesis (though technically a project, since it was creative in nature) was over 400 pages once formatted and bound.

      I’m told it needed to be bound in two volumes. It is my proudest moment thus far.

      that was the most galling part, the “god has done this to you, but...” bit. talk about passing the buck. i hope the judge throws the book at him, because missing curfew three times shows a lack of respect for the fact that his ass isn’t in jail right now. the amount of entitlement makes me want to put my fist through a brick wall!!

      Putting the blame on God is gross, but even worse is that the prof makes it sound like his committing rape on a 15 year old was a blessing (for Labrie)!!! What the fuuuuuuck?! I really hope that this prof is outed on campus and is forced to resign or gets fired. And I hope Labrie is sent straight to prison - but solitary confinement is too good for him. Send him in to mingle with the general prison population.

    That is actually exactly what it fucking means. When your bail is given on certain terms and you violate those terms, you have to pay the consequences.
