Sex crimes (or affairs): just grand as long as you pray about them afterwards and God forgives you.

Or, as long as your supporters are willing to ignore it.

For me it’s always been, “Just grand when legal and between consenting adults and while I’m also not hypocritically calling/impeaching someone for an act I am in fact engaged in as well.” And the pray thing of course.

I refuse to believe that a man who received a character reference from Tom DeLay could do any wrong.

What the hell does this have to do with indicted Texas AG Ken Paxton?

Dennis Hastert, the longest-serving Republican Speaker of the Houselauded by his political friends and family as “a man of high moral character”—the “best kind of public official,” who “doesn’t deserve what he is going through”—just admitted in open court that he is a serial child molester.

“It’s always the one you least suspect!”

Are we approaching critical mass? It seems at this point I'm going to be surprised when it turns out someone is NOT a child molester.

Republicans sure do like electing creeps and rapists to lead them.

In reverse chronological order: David Wu, Anthony Weiner, Eric Massa, John Edwards, Tim Mahoney, Gary Condit, Bill Clinton... these are not Republicans. I will note, however, that there are about 7 Republican scandals for every 1 Democrat.

Gabrielle, excellent summation of the hypocrisy of those defending Hastert, but I did want to add one thing:

says Former Majority Leader Tom Delay, who was once convicted of an election crime but had that conviction overturned by friendly Texas courts, who in 2003 sponsored a bill that would have eliminated the statue of limitations on sex crimes involving children.

Mistreated? That word might need to be redefined if it means yelling at a waitress and molesting kids are both covered by it. Fuck you, Dennis, you sick fuck.

Also, Sobchak, no mention of the fact that he touches kids, Dude?

How could a man like this fool so many people for so long? It helps to understand the climate:

I remember hearing jokes about Hastert and boys going back to when I was in high school (late 90s).

Did he really fool anyone? I’m pretty sure everyone knew and no one gave a shit.

Q: Why didn’t Hastert use bookmarks?

A: He liked his pages bent over.
