Ever since Christie claimed that Bon Jovi was better than Springsteen, New Jerseyans knew he was a soul in torment.

Somewhere in Trenton there’s a portrait of the governor that’s vomiting its soul to the wind.

Yes! “Like A Prayer” over “Greetings From Asbury Park”?? In what universe does that even make sense!?! I knew they’d both been huffing glue as soon as they said that shit.

Huffing cynical politics, more likely. Bruce is a staunch Dem populist, Jon likes him some republicans.

I feel like asking Christie to blink once if he's okay or blink twice if he needs to be rescue. His wife looked like she wanted to be anywhere but behind Trump. They both look so miserable.

Chris Christie knows he is a man who is on the way down the political ladder. Not so long ago the sky was the limit, especially in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy’s devastation, but it isn’t any more. He won’t ever be the top dog as he has hoped, and he has burned (or otherwise abused) a lot of bridges getting to this point. People know him better now.

Now he is rolling the dice, gambling that Trump, whom he despises, will rescue his political career. If this doesn’t work out he will probably become a professional lobbyist sooner or later. Profitable but not especially fun or a stage for grandstanding.

    No wonder he looks soulless.

It’s like a little voice inside CC is saying “Nom nom nomnomnomnom...This governor attention is no longer satisfying! I need more reporters, tv crews, scheduling and interviews, more speeches, unearned accolades and awards! I need it all! I am so huuuuunnnnngryyyyyyy for faaaaaaame!”

Yep, that guy will never satisfy his thirst for power and position, and now he knows it. Whatever he can get from Trump, Trump will make him pay.

Is that... just her smile? Because if so, that’s a terrible thing to have as your natural smile. And I’m an aficionado of the weird natural smile - I personally find Lena Headey’s “mouth turns down at the corners” natural smile deeply charming. Poor Mary Pat’s stuck with a rictus of horror which, while appropriate for the occasion, must’ve looked pretty awk on her wedding day, birth of her first child, etc.

Nah, pretty sure the rictus of horror (lol!) is directly related to tonight’s particular situation. Exhibit A:

She’s a politician’s wife and that politician is Chris Christie. I think it’s fair to say that it’s been awhile since anyone has seen her natural smile. But you’re right it could be she’s a scared-smiler. I just think her eyes sliding around bespeak an inner monologue that’s closer to: what the actual fuck.

I gotta assume the only reason Christie keeps on doing this is he was promised th VP slot right?

Whatever his deal, wow he just screams like he is thinking over and over again “how did I end up here? I f-d up everything”

      Attorney General, given his background.

Frankly, given his political options in NJ these days, I’m willing to bet he would be Trump’s personal shoe-shiner.

As long as it kept him near the circle of power.

Possibly. But that position feels more like something Trump would give to the highest bidder. I honestly would not be surprised if every one of his top level positions is given out based on what they will give him in a backroom deal.

Trump has always felt like the type of “leader” who feels anyone questioning his decisions or authority is treason against the company culture. I imagine he would run his political office the same way. so he would choose a running mate who he completely controls.

This is of course all complete guesses based on very, very limited information. So likely wrong.
