If this doesn’t show that in fact, large doses of easily accessed pornography is having an impact (a negative impact) on children I don’t know what does. This makes me so, so sad. And I realized, had I constantly seen these images or had my male peers had this much access to these images I would have been one of those teens that wanted. For god's sake, we already have so many things to obsess over. This too?

Right? As an adult, it’s hard not to get caught up in the “perfect labia” so prevalent in pornography, and I generally like my genitals. Poor teens have little chance to not fall deep into self-loathing.

To be honest, my labia minora are pretty much just ridges, practically nonexistent, and I’m still self-conscious about it. I’ve heard it’s like a coin slot, nothing to it (though the person didn’t make the comment about me, just “boring vaginas” in general). So I guess you can’t win for losing.

I personally think vagina lips are super awesome! I think we need someone the kids like these days to sing about how they love their lips as is & make it a trend.

I saw a documentary once that found that many women go their whole lives without ever seeing their own lady parts.

The lack of curiosity seems strange to me.

I think maybe it’s because we have to make a real effort to see our bits. Dudes are literally handling theirs every day, it’s out there all the time. They’re intimately familiar with it.

We’ve gotta get on the bed with a mirror and whatnot to even see it, no wonder everyone thinks theirs is “weird”.

Keep in mind that teen girls’ labia haven’t even had a chance to start sagging yet, so relatively speaking, they’re not even going to be very long at all.

I am middle-aged, and was not aware that labia sag with age. Granted, it’s not something I ever considered important enough to keep track of.

I don’t...think they sag with age? I mean, I guess everything does a little bit. But there’s no weight to the labial skin - it’s not like testicles. I think some people just have larger ones than others. And if anything changes stuff down there, it’d be giving birth.

“ Labiaplasty Is the Hottest New Teen Girl Trend”

Nope. It isn’t. 7,535 labiaplasties were conducted in 2014. Presumably that includes adults and teens. The female population of the U.S. is over 150 million. It is fun to judge the choices of women and make up fake scary trends though.

It says ‘hottest NEW trend”. So out of all the new surgical trends females have become interested in getting, Labiaplasty is the most prevalent. Not the most prevalent of all surgical trends(old and new) among females.

As a lady. you’re always going to have meat curtains and some will be bigger than others (kind of like dicks and boobs). Also, they can get bigger with hormones, weight gain, pregnancy, etc. So getting them trimmed back as a teen probably doesn’t mean shit, as they could stretch back out (probably)?

I gave birth and the old vag was out of commission for 6 weeks and sex wasn’t fun again until at least at least 4 mos postpartum. So, getting my shit cosmetically ‘enhanced’ is fucking laughable. I’d have a hard time not laughing and giving side-eye to a teen girl who told me they wanted this.

I find the whole situation around surgery for sprucing up your vagina to be...uncomfortable. But I’m an old married lady and Mr. Levy is down to bone any time I say ‘go’...so it’s just hard for me to wrap my head around.

Also, if I were close enough to a teen girl for her to disclose this information to me, I would not laugh at her. But I would be asking a LOT of questions about why she feels she needs to do this to herself.

If you don’t have a legitimate medical reason for requiring such a surgery, and want to go around wearing yoga pants and actually care what people think about what’s down there... just... wear padded pants or panties? Pantyliners? Aren’t there much better alternatives to, well, mutilating yourself?

I think there’s a big difference between a grown up woman making decisions based on her experience, her sense of self, etc, and teens wanting this surgery. I’m not against this per se, but I think that for teens, it’s a bad idea.

I’m just curious, if you are interested in some kind of cosmetic change, why go for the area that will be seen by the least and yet has the most nerve endings?
