    Yesterday afternoon I saw a woman in an SL550 pick up a tossed out toaster in front of my neighbors house. The sun was flashing off her tennis bracelet and she had a gum ball sized diamond ring. I was taking out my own trash and just stared in awe.

    Also, my neighbors have a HUGE sign that say “Smile, you’re on camera”

      Not going to lie here; I do this all the time. And for a vintage cast iron skillet? Wouldn’t think twice. I’m astounded by what people leave on their curb, and I have no shame!

    My husband and I were watching Jaws last night and it occurred to me that it was nice when everyone in a movie didn’t have to be beautiful. We figure if they made that movie today, Viggo Mortensen would play Quint.

    And the thing is, Roy Scheider was in good shape and sexy, but he wasn’t beautiful. And, kids, Richard Dreyfus was a leading man!

    I say all this to lament that it’s not OK for people to look like people anymore. I guess it’s just the slow roll-out of welcoming our AI overlords.

      Also, this weekend I caught the last half hour of ‘Mr. Holland’s Opus’. I had forgotten what a sweet little (not being demeaning, just ‘not long, drawn-out epic picture’) movie it is.

    I know the ktrashians are richer than God, they travel to exotic locales and buy the best designer everything, but that child looks so sad and desperate in rob’s snapchat video..

    Most girls are insecure about their looks anyway, but they seem tortured by their need to stay in the public eye and pretending to look better than they actually do. It's their choice to get their face and body knifed up, but how sustainable is that. Will they be wearing flesh colored tape to hold up their decaying noses like Michael Jackson in a few years?

      Yeah, I mean, I get the jokes... I suppose, but ... damn. I worshipped her when she was still making music, and it makes me so sad to realize that she actually thought she had to change herself to be beautiful.

      This is the kind of thing I think about when I hear the white side of my family sighing and doing the #allLivesMatter bullshit. When you can be at the heights of success and STILL feel like the very foundation of your identity keeps you from being beautiful...

      Dear other white people: go read The Bluest Eye. Then look at those pictures again. Then tell me that every black girl / woman doesn’t deserve to be specifically told they are beautiful. Not as beautiful as a white woman. No. They are beautiful, full stop.

      Edited to add: Not just white people. If you haven’t read The Bluest Eye, read it. Now.
