Jesus Christ. This whole thing is awful. If these murders were drug-related, and it sounds at least somewhat likely they were, I can only hope that legalization can prevent crimes like this in the future. Regardless of the motive, though, whoever did this is unquestionably monstrous. Killing two teenagers, and murdering a mother next to her infant? God.

The good news is that by embracing this patchwork state-by-state solution, specifically where we deny access to traditional banking and supply infrastructure to booming businesses, we are actively encouraging a underground economy rife for criminal exploitation.

/that being said my first instinct when I hear “scorched earth” is “car-tel”

You’ll always have a drug underground. Even if it’s legal. Bootlegging still exists and liquor has been legal (again) for 83 years now.

Anything to avoid the taxes involved and being a legal grower subject to a state’s laws.

Are the 6 month old and 3 year old also the children of the newborn’s mother who was killed? God, I hope that all three children don’t have their lives destroyed by this.

I mean, that’s so fucked up. Congrats, mysterious murderers, you refrained from shooting babies. You just left them orphaned instead! (OBVIOUSLY not saying they should have shot the kids. Just that perhaps they should have followed that logic train of “spare the innocent”a little further)

It’s highly unlikely that the 6-month old was her child, but I haven’t heard any mention about the parents of either the 3yr old or the 6 month old.

Not surprised about the “grow operations”, but honestly, in that area they aren’t that unusual and it’s really not clear how large of an operation they had.....I live about 45 mins away; and have moderate insight about “grow operations”, and I am feeling really paranoid about even typing that out..

It’s horrifying all the way around, whatever the impetus was/is for these killings.... It’s a VERY small town, and I really think many, many people know exactly what happened/why/who....and it’s wise that Law Enforcement is being tight lipped at this point, and don’t let slip any more evidence like releasing the 911 calls.....

I’m from a wicked small town and about seventy years ago there was a double homicide and a lot of people knew exactly what happened but won’t tell. Like, it just came into the news again and a barber retired at like ninety because he didn't want people asking him about it. He won't even answer his phone. He apparently knows who it was and even after all these years, he won't tell.

Yeah, having recently moved to the Dayton area, I am 0% surprised that this is drug related. Am actually shocked that they found marijuana and not meth or heroin.

The drug-underworld of Ohio is something you don’t want to fuck around with.

This is so baffling and crazy and fucked up and, frankly, I cannot wait to read the 400-page true crime book that includes every single detail of the investigation.

I was guessing meth; somewhat surprised about it being about weed.

That county is full of weed....Meth has taken a downturn in Ohio, with heroin claiming it’s spot...but weed is always growing in rural OH...

Based upon what my children tell me it’s easier and cheaper to get weed than heroin these days. And significantly easier to grow than to cook.

(I feel the need to say my kids are not users, I don’t know why, because I wouldn’t care if they smoked weed, but there it is, my 80's upbringing still influences me greatly)

This was a spree killing by definition, not mass shooting since it involved multiple locations. Assuming, of course, that a person went house to house versus multiple people at the same time.

Both are terrible but as a writer you should try to be more accurate to paint a clearer picture for your audience.

It says something doesn’t it, that we have multiple specific designations for types of killings.

It’s quite sad. Murder is horrific regardless of how it’s done or defined.

I don't understand how it's so hard for some to NOT murder.
