Just another bullet-ridden day in the good ole US of A.

Must be nice to live in a civilized nation...

Close the borders. No more white Christians in till we sort this out.

This seems like some Hatfield and McCoy type of thing. It’s just heartbreaking. A mother next to her 4 day old baby. Fuck.

Because they were rural you assume this? More like likely it was a wirhing the same family than from without.

Yeah, I have to wonder...is any member of the family missing? Or gone away somewhere and due to return? A recent separation/divorce? He/she/They spared all the children but the 16-year-old. My crazy theories include a religious cult, or an abuse/incest survivor.

I’m guessing other family members must have some idea who would want to take out their entire family? It is clearly not random so somebody in that family must have an inkling who might have done this.

Idk, the average age of the witnesses is like 17 months. Maybe they could fingerpaint an image of the perp?

The Rhoden family would like to thank everyone for all of the outpouring of prayers and support for their family... They asked that you continue to keep them in your prayers. They want to thank all of law enforcement from Pike County and surrounding counties for their immediate response - especially sheriff Charlie Reader, the Pike County sheriff - for all of his hard work.

Well I don’t think the 3 yr old gave this statement but I could be wrong.

I’m sorry but how did the family issue a statement when the oldest surviving member is 3 years old??? This is beyond chilling.

I know plenty of people would consider it mundane or average to have 10 people in their family who all lived near each other, but my own family is very small and I can’t even comprehend what it must be like to have so many relatives, much less to lose them all at once.

Stories like this are why I’ll never understand the fascination so many people have with “murder mysteries” as entertainment.

In the ‘90s there was a popular theme party, the “murder mystery” party. It was a fad for years; I was invited to them but I never went. Partygoers were given a role to play in a loosely scripted story, roles like “suspect”, “murderer” and of course, “murder victim.”

A girl I knew (but never liked) threw one of these when she got her bachelor’s degree or something, and I remember asking her and her sister why they thought it would be fun. I asked them why not a rape mystery party? They acted like I was a horrible person for asking that, because rape is serious and no one would want to play the victim or rapist.

I guess it’s only entertaining if you don’t actually know a murder victim.

The entire family wasn't killed. Just 4 households of family members. I read (in USA Today, I think) that they were found by another relative. I believe the 3 year olds grandparents are still alive.

Those parties are just a live version of Clue which is a fun board game. I'm not really seeing the problem.

It’s a thing. They are almost always men (though rare cases of female family annihilators do exist), and they generally kill all family members, or all who were available at the time.

And yeah, it’s terrifying, because often they seem like perfectly well-adjusted people - until they snap.
