“If we take care of morality,” David Brumbaugh, a Republican Representative in Oklahoma’s House , said during deliberations, “God will take care of the economy.”

This is what happens when you start tolerating people’s religious beliefs. We had this brand of religious nutcase on the ropes in the 1990s and early 00s, then we had to start going around respecting their ability to believe such bullshit (and attacking the militant atheists who came so close to putting them down for good, too) and now they are back in full evil-80's mode. We’re gonna have to fight the same damn battle all over again. No More Religions! You want to believe in a beard in the sky, then you keep it inside your head and your god off my lawn.

It’s amazing that Republicans have not turned America into a third world country. They are so damaging at all levels of government. I read a few days ago that some people think they are independents politically. My god, how can any American with two neurons be an independent these days?

I think “independents” are either idiots or more sanctimonious than the rest of us.

I just lost my job today.

I don’t need my elected* legislators making me feel even worse.

*-I didn’t vote for them. Wouldn’t. Even if my ballot were on fire and the only way to put it out is to vote for some regressive hick who only pinned up the the Playboy centerfolds that listed the Bible as her favorite book.**

**-Sorry. After getting fired (quite gently, but still) and spending four hours filling out applications, my snark is running low.

May be a good time to pick up and move to a Blue state? I’m a big fan of our legislators her in Massachusetts.

The bill, which contains no exceptions for rape or incest, would allow the legislature to revoke the license of any doctor who performs an abortion, effectively rendering the procedure illegal.

No way that survives a court challenge. Not that that will stop these folks from passing it, since even those Republican representatives who aren’t religious fanatics are going to support it so they can keep their 100% Pro-Life rating from anti-choice groups - and it serves as a continual tossing of red meat to anti-choice groups to keep them active and focused on the issue.

There’s a lesson in there, though. Liberal groups should really do the same thing when they retake some of those state houses: come up with a bunch of formula bills on various topics, then do scorecards and threaten to primary any Democrats who don’t vote for them.

“If we take care of morality,” David Brumbaugh, a Republican Representative in Oklahoma’s House , said during deliberations, “God will take care of the economy.”

God must really fucking hate Kansas and Wisconsin. Although that says a lot about these folks’ philosophy of governance - you see the same stuff on sex education.

Oh, yeah, it will get overturned by any constitution-following court. However, that will take time. And in those months fighting it, the number of women hurt will be numerous.

As long as poor desperate women are forced to have babies then the Republicans have done their job. After all, they need to ensure an underclass for the future rich to feed off of.

I hope every musician and enterprise would boycott Oklahoma over this just like they are doing in North Carolina.

    (my guess is they won’t)

Yet I would gladly take a refund on tickets I’ve already purchased if the artists chose to do so. Even though I really want to hear Pat Benatar and Weird Al live...

What if they’re performing at one of our many casinos, which are technically not on Oklahoma ground?

I was saying this to my husband last week. With all these terrible anti choice laws wouldn’t it be amazing if corporations and artists stood up for us but they won't.

Dear Scotus: Please consider this as rebuttal to the argument that Texas women can just go to neighboring states.
