“ would probably never see political leaders of such stature and grace”. Just turn on the TV. Obama’s on there all of the time. Might even be some Youtube videos of him floating around.

Obama has definitely done more than Reagan but can we really compare him to JFK and FDR?

My first thought too. Obama is our generation’s classy graceful leader.

It’s Friday, the Guatemalan maid is late again and what does it matter, she can’t understand a word anyway, or pretends not to, her stupid son is talking about voting for Bernie Sanders and her husband is taking another business trip to the Bahamas with their houseboy Jorge and she can’t even understand why he hired him, all that boy is good for is going around the manse shirtless, flexing his muscles! It’s not even Summer fer God’s sake! Thank God for her old, dear friend, the only friend she can rely on, Tito’s Homemade Premium Vodka.

I like imagining Peggy Noonan as Lucille Bluth. Makes so much sense.

A political veteran of the 80's with a 14 year old child? Not impossible but leads me to believe “Bill” is made up...

Heavy drinking can lead to chronic confabulating. And if it’s true, hopefully the child dodged being on the spectrum. But a 14 year old history buff sounds pretty focused.

Also, her using 'budding' in reference to a 14 year old girl made me feel somewhat uncomfortable.

I had never heard of Peggy Noonan, much less considered her thoughts on anything, until Gawker started writing about her.

Fisking is a time-honored liberal blogger tradition because it’s an easy and fun way to generate content. Plus, conservative writers like Noonan and David Brooks obligingly provide a steady source of inane material to work with.

This reminds me of an old Steely Dan song, “Peg.” I found it on YouTube and listened as I read her column. As the lyrics came – “Peg / It will come back to you / ...It will come back to you.” – my eyes rolled. And I realized that her lyric analysis skipped the line that explains the meaning of the chorus in that Paul Simon song. And a sob welled up and I literally put my hands to my face and sobbed, silently, for I suppose a minute, because I realized I had wasted valuable time thinking about this dross.

Reagan and FDR, of JFK and Martin Luther King

One of these things is not like the other...

If this were the $50,000 Pyramid, the category would be “Republican Presidents and the Legacies They Tried to Destroy.”

    What a maroon.

Pretty galling especially when you consider that Reagan’s first stop after the GOP convention was to the Neshoba County Fair and the only thing Neshoba county is known for is murdering three civil rights workers who went down there to try to register blacks to vote.

This was so personally galling to me that I mark it as one of the seminal moments when I stopped being a Republican because fuck racism.
