Meh. I’m up in the Great Lakes. I look forward to growing oranges on Lake Michigan, and hitting the beaches in April.

And by “on” lake Michigan, you mean on the desiccated former lakebed, right?

Someday, my kids will tell people they were raised in Portland, where it used to rain. (90 degrees in April this year)

Hey, I was in Portland recently... and was surprised (not really) to find out that you can buy assault weapons at gas stations.

Oregon has a hefty libertarian streak that’s always run through it, so lots of individual liberty laws on the books. Portland’s the progressive heart of the state, but it’s in kind of a bubble. Hope you had a good visit, though!

Look on the bright side: no more Florida and the South will be depopulated. Which leads me to the inevitable conclusion: Canada needs to build that dang wall NOW!!!!!

Look, I’m no scientist, ok? But, I know the weather when I look outside my window, ok? The weather is fine. It snowed during the winter. These “scientists” just don’t understand that we need jobs, ok? Do we really know what’s happening? Isn’t it true that Al Gore made this up to sell a movie? Can’t these hippies stop with all the fearmongering and let the job creators take care of things? The market will fix any problem we have—not, that I’m saying there’s a problem, because there’s not. I’m just asking questions here.

Although I'm not a climate skeptic, I can't help but notice that every single model the IPCC, NOAA, etc... Put out to forecast the climate change and warming has been embarrassingly wrong. Like not off by a little bit, but not even in the same ballpark. I'm gonna take this with a monumental grain of salt. Kosher salt if you will.

It’s a no-win situation. They have to be dramatic to get people’s attention because humans in general have a logical blind spot for the long-term future, but when the dramatics don’t pan out, people assume it’s ALL bullshit. There’s no easy way to overcome this.

It’s why I couldn’t bag on them tying Sandy, a category 1 hurricane landfalling during hurricane season in an active hurricane basin during high lunar tide, to global warming. They have to do SOMETHING to get a non-scientifically-engaged population to pay attention.

I’m no global warming skeptic, but if the study is based on the cities we prefer to move to, won’t this just change those preferences? Goodbye, Miami; hello, spring break in Barrow!

This is just a hoax by climate researchers to soak up all that sweet grant money so they can live like this:

I live in SoCal and I wouldn’t mind if it was 5-10 degrees hotter or colder in summer or winter. I likely wouldnt notice it.

I think looking at global warming this way is a poor idea.

Heh. Humidity changes things. Live where water touches the ground once in a while and a two degree average increase will make you want to kill yourself.

Jesus, I would. I was amazed at how much more comfortable it is living near the coast in South Bay that living in LA, even though it’s only about a 5 degree difference on average. I have to move further inland again for my job, and I am really unhappy about it.
