In a nice coincidence, celery is highly underrated. A veggie with excellent crunch factor and leaves for garnish to boot.

Literally yesterday I started putting celery in my nutriblasts and I’ll now never stop. I pesonally detest celery because of the texture, but pound it to a pulp and it’s amayzeeng*. Every day’s a school day.

Also today I learned that in the NY primary, voters registered as independent can’t vote. That is kind of insane.

It was insane to me when I moved away from New York and could vote in the primary. I was a committed Independent during the 2008 election and I really regretted it. I only registered Democrat because I hadn’t bothered to check that those rules weren’t nation-wide. Didn’t occur to me that they wouldn’t be.

Not that I mind now, but I was pretty on-board with the principle of the Independent thing.

It is so strange to me that people who are registered and willing to vote are unable because they didn't want to register for a specific party.

Bernie supporters are passionate and engaged. Hillary supporters are passionate and engaged. As a longtime New York democrat, I never thought this was going to end differently here. We elected her to the Senate twice, the second time in a landslide. She was a fabulously effective legislator for NY, it would have taken a lot to pull the rug out from under her here.

Let’s keep that passion and engagement going on all sides in the days and months ahead, or we’re going to end up with President Trump. Which might be fine with Susan Sarandon, but sure as hell isn’t fine with me or anyone who values Democratic principles (or, as we call them here, “New York values.”)

The makeup of a future Supreme Court is very, very high on the list, yes. With Donald Trump’s announcement that the winner of the Miss Universe 2017 pageant gets a seat on the court, our future jurisprudence is very much in doubt.

Did anyone watch Bernie’s campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, on MSNBC tonight? He basically said even if Clinton wins both the pledged delegates and the voters, they are going to take the fight to the convention. If they succeed I will still vote for him, because what are my other choices, but they are still openly embracing using superdelegates to subvert the will of the voters, which last time I checked was a charge they always liked to lob at Clinton. It’s not her fault the media is jacked up and includes supers in her delegate totals, but if Bernie tries to steal this election from her, that will show us who he truly is.

It’s a fool’s errand. The superdelegates aren’t going anywhere. They’ll follow the popular vote and delegate count (where Clinton is way ahead on both accounts) like they always do. Plus, the superdelegates tend to be elected democrat officials, and Clinton has raised millions of dollars for downticket dems. She’s been helping them get elected for more than two decades. Sanders on the other hand has raised $0 for other dems. He can talk about wooing superdelegates all he wants, but it’s not going to happen. Luckily, I don’t think it will come down to that. She’ll wrap it up before then.

I am just so happy and proud of New York voting for Hillary. I know many states have done it before, and many states will do it after, but I am just over the moon about this win. Because, it really does mean, that there is such a possibility that I will get to see a woman become president before I’m 30. I just wish my grandmother was alive, because she would be over the moon about this, even though she was a staunch republican for most of her life.

It meant so much to have our first black president. It would mean just as much to have our first woman in the Oval Office.

      Thankfully they are both Democrats!

Was the fact that they’d both be Democrats ever in question? I mean, I guess there was the possibility of a nuclear war and a Republican woman, just as a coincidence, would have been the next person available after the first 8 in line are taken out by first strikes.

O’Malley was the broccoli on the veggie tray: nobody ever touches that shit. Sanders is the carrots: while nutritionally healthier for you, somehow still not as appealing as the satisfying watery crunch of celery dipped in dressing.
