    BEAUTY THREAD!

(Please be sure to star to keep it near the top)

New hair style products this week. I tried out Schwarzkopf’s got2b messmerizing products, and they work! Having lived through the days of punk and the 80s, messy hair is what I’m used to. Perfectly polished in place hair doesn’t seem right. Besides, the products are pretty:

Then, I ordered this set of the Korean Innisfree face masks. I’ll let you know when they get in.

For TeamDog, how to do puppy eyes:

I recently bought Seaberry face oil from Sephora... I am starting to love and hate Sephora, and am incredibly sad that I am now moving away from Sephora. This is the most I’ve ever typed Sephora

This is now my 5th presidential election that I’m voting in and I can honestly say that I don’t know who is going to get my vote on Tuesday in NY. I lean towards both Hillary and Bernie for different reasons and they also agree on so many important issues. I realize this is a good problem to have because it’s not a lesser of two evils situation for me (yay!).

May I ask the fellow Democrats who you are voting for (or have voted for in the primaries) and why you chose that candidate?

I’m no help. I’m also feeling pretty undecided. Leaning a little more Hillary-ward in the last few days but I don’t know and it’s very stressful!

I was in an early primary state and voted for Bernie, but it was more out of the fact that I wanted the Democratic primary to go on longer than any great passion for him as a candidate. I was really hoping that if the Democratic primary dragged on a little bit more, it would allow Hillary to iron out some of the weaknesses in some of her policy areas/drag her to the left a little bit more.

I never know what to say on SNS until Sunday, i’m always too tired.

Planted my food garden today at my SIL’s new home. We have loads of space, so does anyone have a suggestion for ‘low-maintenance’ plants that only need to be checked every other day? I was thinking about growing beans or planting berry bushes for future seasons.

If you plant tomatoes, put marigolds between the rows. The tomato caterpillars don’t like the smell, which will save you a ton of work.

    Hey Jezzies!!!

Got my freaking 2 pounds of hardware taken out of my leg last week!! I was expecting it to look more surgical but it legit looks like pieces of hardware you get to build a bookcase.

Recovery has been more rough than I expected bc I had to go under full anesthesia which really fucked me up for a few days. But I’m happy the hardware is out and hoping to see improvement in use of my leg going forward.

That’s my only big news of late. Currently gearing up for an evening of switching between hockey and basketball playoffs!

Here’s a pic of my hardware

I had a weird week you guys.

Sunday I hung out with my mom and she bought me sunglasses. I hardly ever see or talk to my mom and the thought of having lunch with your mom or going shopping is completely foreign so this was strange

Wednesday a man blacked out in front of me at a red light and I called 911 and directed traffic until the police showed up. That man is now in jail as he was very very fucked up. Don’t be like this dude

Thursday at work I found out that I’m up for a pretty impressive award which is a yuge deal for me because I’ve been worried my peers were annoyed with me for coming into my job a few months ago and trying to change everything. Things needed to be changed. I also found at, also at work, that my entire family has always secretly believed my adoptive father is also...my biological father. Which if true means dear old dad had an affair with a teenage girl when he was in his 30s.

Friday my 2 year old nephew asked my brother if he “saw the ghost and if it scared him” while focusing on something across the room and laughing and smiling. I would normally dismiss this as nonsense. But my brother lives in my grandparents house and when I was 2, shortly after my grandfather died, my mom told me I would have conversations with someone when I was playing alone in my bedroom at the same house. 😳 I’ve also had a few other weird experiences in the house.

Today I’m seeing Pearl Jam and I’m stoked about it! They’re not my favorite band but they put on a good show.

So how was your week? Weird? Normal? Good I hope!

      Weird and meh

I sold some lady a microwave stand for 10$, 3 days later she messaged me saying it broke a) first in my building as she was hauling it out - (I would have returned her money if she had come back at me at that time) .... and then completely fell apart as her hubby hauled it into their house. Supposedly it is now in the dump and she is requesting at least a partial refund.

I am refusing to do that.... Everyone seems to agree with my course of inaction cos I’m ignoring it.

    Hello Jezzies!

I am having a series of tests to find out why I’ve suddenly become short of breath while exercising, and frankly, I’m bugging’! I’ve been overfat for a while now, but have no signs of heart disease and do not have diabetes, or pre-diabetes. I thought I was just out of shape! My asthma is under excellent control, and I stay quite active, and was doing well and feeling healthy until after Christmas.

Two weeks ago I had a high-tech radioactive tracer test to check for pulmonary embolisms (Nope.) Yesterday night I had a sleep study, to see if I have sleep apnea (nope.) I exercised in the pool today, in the hope that removing some of my bodyweight would make things better, but my oxygen sats were still pretty bad.

Next week, I have an oxygen exercise uptake stress test, and a stress echocardiogram. There is a small but growing-more-likely possibility that I have somehow developed primary pulmonary hypertension, even though I have never taken any of the drugs that cause it or had COPD or anything. This is bumming me out. The survival stats on primary pulmonary hypertension are not good, and dying of heart failure is not my idea of a good way to go.

Have any of you had to deal with a succession of medical tests that you had to wait for the outcome, with the possibility of its being something benign eroding each week? There is still a strong possibility that I have just gained too much weight to exercise, and I am hoping the cause is just that I have fallen into Mr. Pickwick’s Box Canyon of Adipose and have to claw my way out, but that looks less and less likely with each passing test. I have excellent doctors, and trust them very much, so that’s not worrying me. Have any of you guys ever faced this kind of Increasingly Worrying Testing Sequences? How did you deal?

The only time I have (so far) had a worrying test result was when I got results back that sometimes indicate early stages of kidney failure, but it turned out they just did the test wrong. Did not stop me from freaking out for weeks about the possible long, slow loss of my kidneys.

I hope it turns out to be just extra weight! Or some other more easily treatable condition.

I have pretty severe anemia. In fact, I start IV iron infusions on Monday. Anyhow, shortness of breath can be a sign of low iron. Have they checked for that?

Late post, so if anyone sees this- advice is appreciated!

I’ve had depression and anxiety issues since my very early 20's, I’ve been in and out of therapy and it usually works for me. For the last year or so though, I cannot get past this bout. My therapist has recently suggested an anti-depressant, to help me see some light through the trees.

Part of my anxiety is not being in control, so I’ve always been adverse to taking something (for myself- I know they help many people and I FULLY support that), but I think the time has come. I have a really hard time leaving the house now, I can’t look in a mirror without crying and I’m really isolating myself which definitely isn’t helping matters.

I guess I’m afraid of what the side effects may be, does anyone have any experience with this that they wouldn’t mind sharing?

I just put myself back on medication (Zoloft, to be exact) because my anxiety and depression were at a point where I couldn’t control them and I needed something to just keep me even-keel. So far, it’s been working well and I haven’t had any super noticeable side effects.

I will say that in the past I’ve been on various combinations of Wellbutrin, Lexapro, and Effexor. The Effexor/Lexapro combo was horrible for teenage me, basically altering my entire personality. Wellbutrin did work, but my brain felt numb— everything was a hazy shade of grey.

You ultimately need to figure out what path you want to go down and work with someone that will hear your concerns about side effects/how you’re feeling, especially on the medication.

I recently went on an anti-depressant (Lexapro) for job-seeking anxiety and the first week or two was something else. I felt spacy, my pupils were dilated, and I was very sleepy shortly after taking it each day. Now that I’ve adjusted I take it in the morning with no drowsiness—wish I would have done that sooner. The only side effect that remains, as far as I can tell, is that my eyeballs still feel weird a lot. Like the pressure is slightly off or something? The anxiety is drastically better and I judge myself quite a bit less than usual.
