JujyMonkey: Clever tagline goes hereMadeleine Davies

It makes me feel weird and sad that an ACTUAL artist needs to champion nMiley Cyrus as an artist to have her message heard. I like Miley just fine, but her aesthetic is getting high and glue shit to other shit.

In short, as a guy, I clearly have zero ideas what it takes for you ladies to get your message heard as an artist. So Im’a shut my fucking mouth, not offer my dumb opinions, and let you do your thing.

I’m here and I’m happily listening.

My favorite female artist was Artemisia Gentileschi. She painted some awesome stuff from a female point of view.

“When Bush won the election I sat in the fetal position playing Bejeweled for four hours.”

This is me but instead of bush being elected it is me waking up in the morning that drives me to the fetal position. And my game of choice is and always will be Tetris.

I was a half hour late to work the day after the election in 2004 because I just couldn’t make myself get off the couch. I remember just sitting there, watching the time tick by and knowing I was making myself later and later, but just completely unable to make myself move.

“When I was your age, Candy Crush was called Bejeweled. I played it for hours at a time whenever I was really bored and there was nothing good on TV and I had already run out of fun websites to visit. ...What? That used to happen sometimes! And whenever my mom was on a long phone call, I had to close my browser and play virtual solitaire or doodle in Paint – those were literally the only two options.”

“No, I mean, I believe you – you are pretty old, after all, old enough to remember historic events like 9/11 and the election of the first black president – but what did you mean when you say you were ‘really board’? Is that some kind of 20th-century slang?”

I know a lot of female artists that totally agree with this statement.

Honestly it’s a cliché of regarding all artists. Then again I don’t think I can name a living famous artist, so I’m clearly talking out of my ass.

    Carry on.

      Eh, not quite.

It’s a cliché regarding some of the most famous (male) artists in history because the ones who are most famous centuries later are the ones who thought completely outside the box and pushed the movement forward, heavily influencing the next generation of artists. (“He was a man ahead of his time.”) Van Gogh famously sold only one painting in his lifetime and often chose a fresh tube of paint over an adequate meal.

For male artists who are more talented than innovative, though, those who achieve success often do so during their own lifetimes; for female artists, not so much.

I am so sick of reading articles about women being paid less, treated unfairly, and not having a shot. Not because they are wrong, but because they are true and it never seems to change. When will we wake and realize that only things we men are really better at are picking up heavy weights and standing up while we pee. And even those aren’t as universal as we think.

Now Miley’s picture from the other day makes sense! The one with her wearing the Planned Parenthood pin, captioned something like “soon 2b revealed.” Fun speculation here in the comments on that post that maybe Miley could be PREGNANT! Alas, no such luck. Guess we’ll all have to wait a while longer for Miley to incubate a parasite. Don’t know about the rest of you but I’m ok with that as long as I have this cool Minter art to keep me company in the meantime.
