I thought the intersection of Orange and Hicks was the Trump campaign.

I mean the library will still be there and...

The Brooklyn Public Library will receive $52 million from the sale, about $40 million of which will fund improvements at other branches, according to David Woloch, the library’s executive vice president for external affairs.

I’m not really seeing the downside here.

In 2017, I’m running for mayor on a pro-crime platform.

ok,...so the campaign slogan is a work in progress

22 year old me would never do it because I couldn’t be an asshole and exploit people that way for my personal gain.

My current self, who has been exploited by countless assholes for their personal gain.........sure why the fuck not?

At this point I’d rather be the rich asshole than the noble serf.

Yes! If I had the type of money to make parallel hallways and rooms so that my servants could still serve me and I did not have to interact with anyone, no matter who they are, all day! Sign me up.

For a week or two, and then I’ll miss humanity and reemerge from my money mansion into real life.

So wait —- does the buyer have to make it into a single family monster house? Or could somebody put together a bunch of people who can get their hands on enough to put down on it, and then they could all occupy it? There are plenty of people who have some means but not enough to buy a place, but synergizing with others, they might be able to pull it off and everybody would get a chunk. I wouldn’t be a candidate of course; I have zero in savings, and my spendable income goes on things like bad auto repairs, vet bills, restaurant food, friends in need, and Botox.

It’s an easy bet, since of course such an asshole is already out there. Forget the local ones, there are Russian oligarchs and Chinese industrialists and Saudi princes for whom spending $22 million on a single-family residence/safety deposit box they might not set foot in for a year or more is nothing.

As huge and gaping an asshole as the buyer might be, he will never out-do the real estate company that’s now positioning this building as a single-family home (complete with blueprints) instead of an investment property.

“We need to ask ourselves: Do we really think of rich individuals as human beings? Or do we view them as cartoon villains—one-dimensional stereotypes not dissimilar to the caricatures propagated by racists, misogynists, and Jew-haters?”

The author should work retail for a month then answer that question.

If you’ve ever had to deal with tenants and can afford not to the answer to this is simple.

I’m not sure rich people are humans. We could start hanging a few and see what happens next. Experimentation is the future! Disrupt! Disrupt!
