That’s what I was thinking. Like, really, I could care less if he was dealing. I think it should be legal and taxed and maybe this guy could have made a better life for himself and his son if that were the case, BUT that was not for personal use. Not even for two people.

EDIT: And this, honestly, is how legitimately outrageous stories become about something else. You read “personal use” in the headline and then continue on and find out, no, it was actually 42 plants and suddenly the whole freaking story becomes questionable.

Seriously, again, I think this is insane and wrong and outrageous and the guy shouldn’t be in jail and weed should be legal, etc, etc, but be clear in the headline because shit like that makes a legitimate story read as illegitimate real quick.

Archaic, mandatory, life ending drug posession sentences, we can agree, need to be wiped out forever. But, and with no attempt to justify such a sentence, I have to ask.... one of his four prior felonies was armed robbery, no benign, victimless crime; what were the other felonies he committed?

But he already served time for that so it shouldn’t be relevant here, especially since he was just growing weed.

Affluenza kid gets 2 years, after killing 4 people, fleeing the country.

This poor old man gets equivalent to death sentence?

    The law is an ass...

His mistake was not being rich in a capitalist society that worships wealth as the equivalent to virtue.

I feel awful for the families of his victims. They finally think the judge is going to put him away and they can get some level of peace.....NOPE just another middle finger from the justice system

I may not know much about growing weed, but when I saw “personal use” in the title and “42 plants worth $92,000" in the article....

I don’t think anyone should serve jail time for marijuana, but no need to put growing operation in quotes. 42 plants is exactly that. I would be more likely to put “personal use” in quotes. That’s a lot of marijuana.

“Evolving standards of decency that mark the progress of a maturing society.” That’s Commie talk. Quit talking, Commies. The Constitution as written is a great law for all time. Little known fact: All the Founding Fathers were time-jumping wizards who created a document that would cover all temporal exigencies and societal issues. But that’s another thing liberal education textbooks don’t want you to know about. Commies.
