    I’ll take the hit and say what needs to be said here. While any touching is technically ”assault”, this was far from the spirit of the law, and no jury of reasonable people would have convicted.

    This story needs to go away, as there is PLENTY to criticize Trump and crew over, and all this story does is rally his base around the “they’re out to get us” meme, and force a lot of regular people to actually take Trumps side.

    I think that while Corey’s actions may have technically constituted assault it seems doubtful that the prosecutors would have prevailed at trial. The stupid thing about it is that it reveals the sheer stupidity of the Trump campaign strategy. Never admit your wrong, never apologize and things like this get completely blown out of proportion. How’d that work out?

      Pretty well so far. He’s courting the kind of person who respects people who do what they want, never apologize and make themselves out to be the best. This doesn’t make his constituency like him any less, it makes them respect him more for taking a stand and, since no charges were filed, apparently being right about it.

      Eh, just getting the police involved dug up enough evidence for Fields to win a defamation suit. They went on TV and called her a liar and worse, then the police dug up video that Trump owned that showed it was true. That’s as open and shut a case as there is for defamation. If she sues and wins, sure the Trump fans can tell themselves that they were “right” because they are delusional, but no objective observer would believe that.

    I woke up in my neighbor’s bed with a head wound, yesterday’s paper, and an empty bottle of sleeping pills, and my nightmare in that putrid shit hole of a bar, Paddy’s Pub, finally, mercifully, came to an end. The owners all deserve to rot in jail, though having to spend every day with each other in that vile establishment is a decidedly greater punishment. That is why I decided not to press charges, leaving them to live in the hell on earth they’ve created for themselves for the rest of their pathetic and miserable lives.

      Imagine the reaction is someone managed to grab Trump’s, or even Lewandowski’s arm, pulled him hard enough to make him take a step, and leave bruises on his arm. They’d be detained instantly, spend AT LEAST the night in jail, and all we would talk about until November would be how out of control the Left is, with constant evocations of Hitler and Stalin.
