I hope Politifact weighs in on the efficacy of super squats.

There’s a lot riding on this.

I’m trying to figure out which way to go with Jeffs post. I know he's new, but can you be so new you don't know everyone you work with is a filthy, lying blogger?

So, “FALSE” is worse on the meter than “PANTS ON FIRE!”?

While technically “Pants on Fire” is less honest than “False”, Politifact has a thing for fire-disfigured genitals and therefore gives it a few extra notches on the meter.

I think the needle for ‘pants on fire’ goes a bit wild. This may have been a well-timed screen-grab as it bounces.

Let’s talk about how many of the kids on Gawker’s staff don’t know shit about the subjects they write about and it shows....

Yeah, it’s getting unbearable at this point. I can handle biased, I can handle uninformed, but I can’t handle both at once. Kinja’s a disgrace lately.

Gawker’s staff are the same age as most news organization staff, including pseudo-news org’s like Politifact.

And they are better writers than most.

What I find alarming is that most people seem to think that blogs are the new newspapers, when in fact they are (often editor-free) opinion columns. People read shit on a blog and assume the person is at least somewhat of an authority on what they’re talking about, and nothing could be less true. At least reporters (usually) went to college and studied journalism and know how to avoid pitfalls when reporting. Bloggers are mostly just people with an opinion and a computer, which is great, but people need to understand blogs are just the written form of the opinions they hear from everyone around them every day.

The worst offenders in this regard are the blogs underneath sites such as CNN and Fox. Someone will post a link to Facebook of an article, “FBI says Clinton to be Indicted Any Day” and when I click through, its an unedited, unreviewed opinion blog entry deep in the bowels of CNN.com.

      The fact-checkers over at Politifact

      Politifact is Bullshit.

They are not “fact-checkers” they are bullshit artists. Their phrasing and framing of the ‘facts’ they check is just one way they show bias. It’s basically a weird lie. They aren’t checking ‘facts’ any more than Fox News reports facts. Yes, sometimes a fact gets in there, but it’s fundamentally bullshit.

Factcheck.org actually does what Politifact claims.

This cannot be repeated enough. Specifically, Politifact gets coverage because they make pronouncement and use a easy to use in a 10 second tv clip system. Meanwhile, Factcheck doesn’t use a clever gif and just relies on being right.
