A majority of Americans had an unfavourable view of Bush in 2004...

This is the height of concern trolling. More to the point, you’re just wrong. He was never this unpopular leading up to a presidential election. Dubya wasn’t this unpopular until literally the last year of his presidency.

      Hot fuckin’ take.

      No they didn’t:

At this point in 2004, George Bush had a +7% approval rating.

Bush’s approval ratings actually didn’t start dipping down below 50% most of the time until he was reelected and he started and then stopped his disastrous plan to dismantle Social Security:

But this means 31 percent find him favorable? That’s way too high. And sad. And depressing. I thought only 10% of the population were sociopaths!?!

These are unprecedented numbers for the frontrunner of a major party during a presidential election year. It was going to be hard for him to win, anyway. These numbers make it basically impossible. The only time these don’t matter is when the other candidate(s) are more unpopular than you are (and by a lot), and that’s simply not going to be the case this cycle.

Fret not, there could be a third percentage of people that don’t have an opinion one way or another.

Gallup has it at only 63, but it’s a slightly older poll. HRC is at 53 in the same poll. Each party looks poised to elect a politician that the general population doesn’t want. Primary democracy in action!

Eh, they can’t all be winners.

Enthusiasm for Obama was through the roof. People were psyched about Bill Clinton.

I’ll take weird-but-competent Hillary for the next 8 years, and then maybe somebody more likable and inspiring will come along.
