Police are not good tools of discipline at a school. They often cause the situation to escalate instead of calm down. It takes a different skill set to handle discipline and maintaining order in schools. Middle school is rough and trying.

That is why teachers are trained to deal with kids this age. Where is the teacher?

I can’t fathom cops in middle schools. It blows my mind.

I’m glad everyone has a video camera with them at all times now. This stuff has always gone on. Now we know about it.

Sure, but my son was nearly suspended for three days because he filmed a fight and its aftermath in his high school cafeteria. The principal explained that it was a violation of their “media policy” and she didn’t want the school’s reputation to be harmed. I spent about two hours negotiating her out of it.

are investigating a possible case of excessive force

we are working to get all of the details

We certainly want to understand what all occurred

    Dear officials,

Here’s what happened: a Texas school police officer body slammed a twelve-year-old girl into the ground.

Don’t hesitate to reach out, should you need any additional assistance - I’m always glad to help!

    Best wishes,

LOL yes, because it’s “unclear” why the animal beat up a little girl.

Translated: We’re desperately calling law firms, hoping we can find one that can cut our monetary damages as low as possible, and is scummy enough to destroy the integrity of a 12-year old girl without a second thought.

The cop thinks he's a tough guy because he's a cop, but in reality he lacks the skills to manage a 12 year old girl. Bravo Officer Toughguy! Bra-fucking-vo.

And we wonder where teenage boys get the idea that it’s ok to be violent towards women. How about from the men who are supposed to be their role-models like this tool.

She had to have been. And I’m sure they didn’t get her any medical attention.

I hope that cops entire family leaves him. If there was a person in my life who did something like this I would vomit in his shoes and never speak to him again.

“two students became verbally aggressive toward each other” and then the police modeled how to efficiently and unnecessarily escalate a confrontation from verbal to physical. On a child. Remind me again how important it is to have police officers on K12 campuses?

“This video is very concerning, and we are working to get all of the details,”

What details do you need? A grown man slammed a young girl to the ground, where she laid motionless IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR SCHOOL!

They need to get details so they can formulate a response where the officer was in grave danger and needed to use force to take charge of the situation. Then a review board will come back and say that the officer was justified and that was in the right and will face no further action from the municipality gov’t.

He slammed her pretty hard. I hope she doesn't need any facial surgeries or damage to her teeth. Why do schools have cops again?

The thing that really bothers me about these scenarios is that the police just treat children like an adult when that obviously not the case. The kid wasn’t complying? Fine. I worked in mental health with teenage girls and fights broke out nearly daily a lot of the time. We could never body slam a kid and if we did, we’d be fired and possibly even charged. We learned how to restrain kids in ways that were intended to minimize injury to us and the kids. We also didn’t have any sort of handcuffs, pepper spray, batons or firearm and somehow we managed. There’s no excuse to assault children this way and it certainly doesn’t help them grow up to be responsible adults. It just fosters more mistrust in the police.

There are people who think this is actually how you “snap” kids out of their “mouthy” behavior and teach them respect and also how not to wimpy brats. It’s...incredibly disturbing and counter-intuitive as all hell.

There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for a grown man to slam a 12-year old girl face first int a brick walkway for ARGUING with another student. Who is the adult here? I have broken up many an argument between teenage girls using only my voice. Granted, I am somebody’s mother, and I look like somebody’s mother, so the girls are going to take one look at me, and back off (all of my childrens friends like me, but are slightly afraid of me. Works for me.)

How poorly trained are you if your go-to for breaking up an argument is violence?

I am showing this video to my daughter and her friends as soon as I go to pick her up. Proof that they will kick the shit out of you for no reason whatsoever, and make ANY excuse to justify it.

The sad thing is that you have to warn your daughter to avoid violence against her, instead of being able to have the reasonable expectation that your local police force might train their people better than this.

My daughter’s middle school is right across the street from an LA County Sheriff sub-station. Sometimes that comforts me; sometimes that worries me. They do not have the best reputation for their dealings with minorities.
