Just saw this on MSNBC. More proof he has no intention or desire to actually win. He knows this statement alone removes any chance of a winning the general.

MATTHEWS: How do you ban abortion? How do you actually do it?

TRUMP: Well you’ll go back to a position like they had, where people will perhaps go to illegal places, but you have to ban it.

I really enjoy when, quite by accident, Donald Trump makes a really important point.

Its like when all the ChristoFascists state bleating “Kermit Gosnell exemplifies the horror of the abortion industry”

no, Kermit Gosnell is a symptom of a system that doesnt do fucking enough to protect women who are so far down the end of their rope that a back alley witchdoctor is appealing to them :(

I know right! And really putting the screws on that, okay, you say abortion is murder. That means you think women who miscarry are murderers. 15 to life, yeah? Oh wait, no? No, being incapable of bringing a pregnancy to term is different from murder? Really, how so?

You know, I know what Gawker’s stance is on the whole media blaming dimension of Trump’s candidacy, but it’s pretty hard not to see that the media is, at the very least, somewhat complicit in driving Trump to say more and more outrageous things.

For some reason, the media doesn’t seem to have cottoned to the fact that Trump is not a politician but a celebrity who is only doing this for fame, and thus will rise to any provocation they through at him.

Trump has done more than any Democrat ever to expose the ridiculousness of Republican policies and their worldview.

Why is it not reasonable to punish women who have an abortion? After all, according to Republicans, abortion is “murder”. If a woman participates in a murder, is she not at the very least an accessory? As Republicans describe abortion, both a doctor and patient’s role in the practice would absolutely be a felony.

You’ll never ever hear any other Republican politician talk about this issue. This is because they are not really serious about outlawing abortion. They only care about pandering to their evangelical Christian base.

Kudos to Trump today for saying what no other Republican politician has the intellectual COURAGE to say.

On the contrary, I think they would ban abortion in a heartbeat if they could get away with it. But an outright ban is massively unpopular and would jeopardize Republicans in certain districts and states.

So they get around that by attacking it with onerous regulations designed to make it as difficult as possible for people to get abortions. And they never talk about punishing the women involved because that would reveal the inherent misogyny of the anti-choice position.

You stop short. I believe that every menstrual period and every wasted ejaculate is the thoughtless disposal of a potential human being. Worse, these precious life-containing nectars are disrespectfull;y flushed away or thrown in a ditch or into a sock or an ashtray beside the sacred bed of lifelove. Until we start to treat our fully primed uteri or testicles as bearers of the moist miracle of life, we will remain mired in sin. Every used condom and menstrual tampon or pad at least deserves to be buried with appropriate prayer, love, celebration, and perhaps a tasteful marker as a tribute to the Little Life That Wasn’t. To the holy potential that we waste so profligately. Best of all, we need to put a stop to this horrific murder of the Voiceless Millions. We treat their tragic corpses as unwanted clothing stains; we joke about their endless purgatory swimming hopelessly in pants until death relieves them —- or resting unfulfilled and unfertilized in some garbage bin or toilet. A perfidy, and we don’t even shed a tear. .

    “MATTHEWS: For the woman?

TRUMP: Yeah. There has to be some form.”

But not for, say, the husband/boyfriend who agrees with and supports her decision, makes the appointment, drives her there and back, and helps pay for it. No, nothing happens to THAT guy. It’s the the little slut who needs to be punished, so that she learns to keep her goddamm whore legs closed.

Christ. In a way it’s refreshing to see the right wing’s “we’re just protecting the unborn” mask slip off and reveal their true motivations behind banning abortion - a deep, seething hatred of women and female sexuality.

That’s an interesting point - under this law, shouldn’t the male be punished as an accessory?

On the other side of that coin, do men have “abortion” rights? If abortion during a certain window is allowed, can a man also decide in that timeframe that he will not support the child financially?

Yes, numerous times, with conflicting positions and answers that never last for more than 24 hours. I’m sure he’s got an opinion you can agree with in there somewhere, so take it, believe that’s what’s going to happen, and forget all the other things he said.

Impressive that, as of last night, he said he'd never had to think about it. Now, less than 24 hours later, he's outlined his position numerous times.
