    Ugh, my Mother purchased a hot pink 9mm last year. I asked if she’s been to the range, and she replied “I grew up with guns, I think I can handle it”. Yeah, Mom, that was 50 years ago. One of the nights my phone is going to ring that someone has taken her gun during a break in and killed her and my Dad. Next time I am home, I am breaking it down and stealing the firing pin.

    I have to reply. My neighbor, here in Texas, offers free CHL classes. He’s far past an ideal weight, moves slowly, and owns multiple weapons. I cannot for the life of me fathom how he thinks he’d be able to quickly take down an intruder (if you’re older and disagree, please explain why.)

    Same with my mom and stepdad. They are not overweight but their reflexes simple are not what they once were (they’re in their sixties and early seventies.)

    WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

      Honestly, unless you have a whole lot of training even a young person with relatively good reflexes probably won't be able land a debilitating hit under pressure, especially with a handgun. If an intruder is in your house you are going to be jumpy and antsy, breathing heavily and just plain scared. None of that is contusive to calmly drawing, aiming, and discharging a firearm with any kind of success.
