    I truly despise people who think that saying “I was joking” or “I didn’t mean it” means that awful thing they said isn’t still a window into their character. It is. If that’s what you think is funny, that says something about you. If your go-to insults of women have to do not with their capabilities or their character, but rather their appearance, that says something about what you value, whether it’s a joke or not.

      Mr Trump’s joke relies on a classic two part structure: Setup, and punch line. The set up establishes a mode of reality, priming the listener for more of the same. The punch line then reverses expectation by introducing an absurd, bizarre, or unexpected notion that often seems contrary to the setup. This turn into the unexpected and strange induces laughter from the listener.

      SETUP: Women...

      PUNCHLINE: They think they’re people!

      Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains.

    Whenever, Trump disparages a woman’s looks I think of that Chris Rock joke: if he wasn’t rich and Rosie O’Donnell wasn’t gay, they would be married to each other. His obsession with Megyn Kelly isn’t just because she’s critical of him. It’s because he can’t call her ugly. That’s why he won’t stopped attacking her.

    Sy Sperling told me his own damn self that Trump was a client of Hair Club for Men. At the time Sperling said I couldn’t write about it, and I never have, but hey, statute of limitations and this isn’t a story. That’s a rug, you can bet on it. And what he lacks up top he makes up for in length. Classic insecurity move.

    PS For that ugly asshole to say anything against any woman anywhere is a crime in and of itself. To be doing so while “trying” to show you can be a leader of the free world is not only unconscionable, it’s also an absolute and utter joke.

    I’m admittedly not a typical Jezebel reader: I’m conservative, and I found the sister site from Deadspin. I have recently enjoyed it for the Trump mocking articles.

    This man is an embarrassment. I am active in conservative and Republican circles, and he is extremely unpopular. He is a caricature of the the worst lies and stereotypes about conservatives. Please don’t judge us on the basis of this man. We are largely hard-working and smart people who were brought up by parents tried hard to make sure we were better off than they were. Trump and the ignorant racists who support him are our enemies too.

      My mother will say horrendously offensive things that, to her, are ‘just jokes’. If anybody pulls her up on it, she’ll get all huffy and accuse people of being ‘oversensitive’, but if anyone uses the same kind of ‘humour’ on her, she’ll be furious. She’s massively racist, and has some very odd and thoroughly entrenched ideas about gender roles.

      In her defence (such as it is), she has a long standing mental illness and a drink problem (so it’s hard to tell how much of her assholery is her, and how much is down to her problems - not that it makes much difference for those on the receiving end), and isn’t running for president of the US.

      Although, that said, I’ve never actually seen her and Donald Trump in the same room...
