The largest problem here is the classification system itself. It's so bad that classifiers classify public statements. Not just analysis but the statements themselves. That's absolutely asinine.

And this is why you don’t pass government business through a private server, because everyone knows how the classification system works, and that what’s not classified today could be classified tomorrow. Blaming classification is like blaming your computer’s filesystem for allowing you to delete something you later decided you wanted to hold onto. Ultimately, you made the poor decision and still need to take responsibility.

      The biggest issue isn’t reclassification.

Her biggest issue is asking her aides to copy info from the secured system (the one diplomatic cables and such go through) into the unsecured system of “regular” internet, to send it to her email address.

Based on my interaction with Hillary supporters, I can only assume the headline should read: “Report: At least 147 privileged, educated white men are investigating Hillary Clinton’s Private Email Practices.”

And they might be right but, of course, that does not mean that there is nothing to investigate.

Well, Clinton supporters DO love erasing minorities and women who don’t support her, like how they say Sanders supporters are just a bunch of white men.

Yeah, I took a peak at one of these Hillary articles from Jezebel and there is something mentally wrong with these people. They are spouting some really full on mentally ill nonsense and acting like everyone is out to get them.

I don’t know if they’ve been circlejerking each other too long and it messed up their minds where they can’t think rationally anymore, or if feminism just attracts crazy people, but they need help.

Not so much everybody. No body can do this if you work in the government. As a person that works in IT, if there is any fuckery going on in or around classified data, you are being led out in handcuffs. This is one of those priveledge things that should eliminate that excuse at least.

I understand your point but this isn’t a great comparison. Use of technology is much more ubiquitous than it was 15 years ago and the standards for security have increased. With IT we can’t look at the trends of the past decades to decide what is ethical or secure, tech and our culture around it change too quickly.

And as always it would be the Dems fault to loose considering they had a viable candidate they royally fucked over left and right.

But let’s be honest here, there will be no inditement because under the letter of th law she didn’t do anything wrong and the Feds fucked up from the beginning before she was even secretary.

I hate this mentality. It’s the same justification people give for referees not making consistent calls. The rules are clear. The players play the game. The referees just tell the players they’ve broken a rule. In no way, shape, or form is it the fault of a referee (as long as they were doing their job correctly) for the player fouling out or being ejected.

It’s cringe worthy how many highlights have players taking 5-6 steps without dribbling, but the justification from some referees is that the impact of whether the player dribbled or not is 0 (“it didn’t impact the flow of the game”). It’s certainly understandable why they apply the rules differently at times, but is it right?

Should there be other people investigated? Certainly. But that’s not the fault of anyone except those that had the private email servers. Not their party. Not the feds. Not anyone else. The rules in question were in place well before Senator Clinton became Madam Secretary Clinton.

To me, the problem of the Democratic party is that it got behind the wrong candidate.

I strongly suggest anyone defending Clinton take the time to read the Washington Post article that is helpfully hyperlinked in this article. I personally like Clinton a lot, but what is being reported is deeply troubling and disappointing. What comes across most clearly in the WashPost piece is a portrait of Clinton putting national security at risk for extremely petty and banal reasons- a person who was inflexible and staff who were unwilling to tell her “no, this is the way that it is” and instead were focussed exclusively on accommodating her wishes without proper consideration for whether her wishes should have been accommodated. Whether or not criminal charges are brought, what is presented in the article should give people pause regarding Clinton’s character or at least her sense of judgment in terms of those she employed. I expect leaders to be willing to surround themselves with people who have the best interest of the office being served in mind, not the whims of the person temporarily in that role. On this, there seems to have been a huge failure and, yes its a corny phrase, but the buck does stop with her.

None of which changes the fact that Sanders won’t get the nomination, can’t get elected, and even if could manage all of that, would be a lame duck, one term president.

      This isn't a popularity contest.

I just hope the investigation wraps up before the end of the nomination process.

Although switiching to Bernie, who is polling better against the wannabe Chump in Chief anyways, is probably the wiser move for the Democratic Party. Why risk a Trump presidency for a candidate you simply like better? Its definitely not wise to even risk it when the stakes are so high.

Good Democrats, do the Republicans work for them.

Keep carrying that right-wing water, once Clinton is eliminated voters will finally be forced to find out who this “Colonel Sanders” is.

It is almost like Gawker media has a direct financial incentive to see the perceived gap between Clinton and Sanders close over the near future...in some kind of “horse race” scenario perhaps?

The stakes aren’t high because they deployed 100+ agents.

The stakes are hight because some of her staffers were granted immunity in order to speak to investigators.

If nobody did anything wrong, why was immunity asked for and granted?

President Obama’s legacy could be tarnished when it comes out that, during his administration, she got a pass. Apart from the law, she’s basically saying that she was unclear about how to use email. I see. Jeezus, that’s a pretty thin reed to rest your ass on.

Oh, the Obama administration has done far more questionable shit than that.

If the day ever comes that the pendulum of public perception swings back from security to privacy (about as unlikely as it raining apple pie), Obama will find himself in the cross-hairs of history fast.
