    Dear Bride,

No one cares. It’s a white dress. If it were a purple dress with feathers, that would be a surprise, but there is no surprise to ruin here.

    Sincerely,

    Everyone

No word a lie, but one of my favorite episodes was the one featuring brides who wanted red dresses. Yep, red wedding dresses. The staff obliged.

I am reminded of an interview I saw with a newly wed couple who was on the Costa Concordia when it sank. The bride was in total disbelief that something terrible would dare happen on their honeymoon. Yes, because the true tragedy of people drowning in a preventable boating accident is how it impacted your honeymoon.

If I were her, I would be embarrassed to be kicking up a fuss about this publicly no matter how mad/upset I was about the situation. Get a grip, lady.

Oh god, I hate those fucking dresses. The brides with like an unlimited budget ALWAYS go Pnina when they have so many gorgeous designers to choose from!! And it’s usually that stupid see-through corset one!

Idk, it’s not like there’s a plot to Say Yes...they could have just changed the episode date to later in the season no?

You may hear from editors or producers about this, but I was a P.A. for a couple of years, & once they produce, finish a show, they are out. The talent has NO say to the show by then.

All that bride had to do is send a mass text to all her guests and fiance not to watch. If her guest list is like everybody else, maybe 3 would be watching anyways, the rest wouldn’t know when it’s on to save their lives.

Or you can waste everybody’s time and resources by suing. Whatever.

I went shopping WITH my now-wife to help pick out her dress. She went shopping with me to help pick out my tux. Don’t know why some folks get all wrapped up in the “don’t see each other before the aisle” tradition. Like, what if the dress or tux is awful?

meh. I kind of get it. 90% of the time, I’m in sweat pants and no make up and like, my husband thinks that sexy, YAY!

But it was kind of cool to have one day where he didn’t see all went into looking really great, but just saw me in this dress and with the hair and everything... the look on his face was really something and it’s a moment I will really never ever forget. it still makes my heart flutter and puts a smile on my face.

And before you get the idea that I was some super high maintenance bride...my engagement ring is from a flea market and we didn’t accept wedding gifts, and we invited ten people and ordered off the menu at a decent restaurant. We also got married in a used book store.

I did want that moment, though. and FWIW. I think that’s something that’s ok to be important... But, I think the way it was handled in this case is BSC.

I have found that if you don’t do everything EXACTLY as society has told you to (date 2-2.5 years before getting engaged, have 100-200 guests at wedding, do the hoop jumping, lion taming of all the ridiculous stuff that goes with planning a wedding, have a bridal shower, stag parties, etc, announce pregnancy 8-12 months later) you’re essentially the devil and might as well not be in a relationship.

I told someone that if we ever get married (we’ve been at this 12 years already, whatever), we’d take advantage of PA’s self-uniting marriage and then go to a bar with our friends. It illicit a lot of ‘but but that’s not how to start a long lasting marriage...’

OK, serious question, why is anyone watching TLC any more?

How can you watch, knowing they are funding the fucked up Duggar/Quiverfull cult?

The only reason TLC exists is that currently, it’s not legal to put rednecks in zoos.

This isn’t my normal “you are a moron for supporting reality tv” rant. This is my You are a bad person who supports abuse and child molestation rant.

It’s a much more sad rant.

I agree with you, but those wedding shows are like crack. I’ve mostly moved on to HGTV and the Food Network, tho.

I’ve never watched this show, but don’t the women get to keep the dresses that retail for thousands of dollars? Alexandra Godino should enjoy her freebies and complain about her bridesmaids not following her ridiculous rules, like a normal Bridezilla.

Some friends of a former coworker of mine have apparently been on this show. They are not getting the dress for free- they are actually buying it. I think they also have to pay for their transportation to NYC or wherever it is filmed (or maybe they had to pay for hotel but not flights?).

I don’t remember all the details but I do remember walking away from the conversation wondering what exactly was the perk for agreeing to be on this show. Free wedding dress advice? Just that desperate to be on TV?
