      I suspect that The Thing isn’t so much Cruz’s affairs but that one of the women involved works for Trump now and is willing to talk. I get the impression that Trump has been fairly diligent about paying off all the women he’s been cheating on his wife with, or at least the most recent ones.

      There’s also the matter of supporters. Cruz has been angling toward voters who actually care about these things, while Trump seems to have a band of people who will accept almost anything he does.

    The fact that all of DC didn’t immediately laugh this scandal off is, to me, a great big blaring red flag. Like, it seems like the entire political press pretty much went “yep, sounds about right.”

    Also, a Lindsey Graham endorsement truly is the kiss of death in this election cycle.

      Yep. I have to say, as much as I find this to be hard to believe, I sort of feel it probably is true? Just because it is such a huge accusation (I mean 5 women, not just one affair), including an active member of Trump’s campaign, the Trump campaign is all in on promoting this, and there seems to be a bizarre silence from Cruz supporters...It’s definitely an all in move by Trump though, I mean this could actually cost Trump the nomination if it is not true and will eliminate Cruz if it is.

      Trump’s actually maintaining some deniability - he just put out a statement that he had nothing to do with it and hopes it isn’t true. Trump kind of can’t go all-in without throwing his spokesperson under the bus. Also, it won’t cost Trump the nomination if it’s not true. Trump could retweet photoshopped pictures of Cruz with each of the women named, and it wouldn’t cost him the nomination. If it’s true, Cruz is FUCKED, though.

      What if Ted Cruz is literally the Thing, and the white chunk of whatever that came out of his mouth was a piece of the previous being that was assimilated? But I’ve always thought Donald would wind up being an alien monster trying to assimilate all of mankind taking various forms and being overall visually oppressive. This whole saga only raises more questions.
