There are so many stories about Ghomeshi. He’s another one who has gotten away with so much for so long, that he thought he was untouchable. It was an open secret in the CBC, Toronto and throughout the Canadian Media. I have no doubt all of these women are telling the truth

I expect more women will be coming forward with similar stories

      This is so unfortunately true.

I was a member of the Toronto media for years, and even in J-School we’d heard the rumours and warnings. In hindsight it makes me feel complicit despite never having worked for the CBC or with Ghomeshi - we all dropped the ball on this.

It seems like he’s still untouchable for now. OJ Simpson and Robert Durst were also found not guilty of crimes but at least they’re paying for them now.

It is awesome that she is speaking out on this when she knows she is going to get some disgusting MRAs trolling her. Also, he is fucking abhorrent and I hope he faces actual justice in the upcoming trial.

So, he made an off-color remark and talked to her at a party when she didn’t want to talk to him???

As a female person who has never been sexually harassed, the way people talk about these interactions (using the words “insidious” and “victim shaming”) just seems kind of overdramatic. You have to give me more than “Oh, he talked to me more than I wanted and he made a stupid pass at me.”

Just to be clear, I have no problem believing that this guy choked/raped and harassed his other victims.

Kazan’s complaint seems kind of not relevant or comparable to being choked/raped.

it’s not ok to make a pass at someone in a professional setting. she was there to give an interview, not a date. ghomeshi is a fucking scumbag and people like you baffle me.

When someone just won’t leave you alone, especially someone who has said inappropriate things previously (in this case, AT WORK), it’s legitimately threatening. It ruins the party at best, and it makes you fearful for what might happen afterwards. “Insidious” is 100% the correct word. It instills dread.

Also, there’s a pretty big difference between “funny, sexy and just the right amount of damage” vs. something like “funny, sexy, successful”. The first one doesn’t actually seem like a just ‘a stupid pass’ to you, does it? It’s presumptuous and creepy.

I always fantasize about a mostly-frozen tuna, about 15lbs., and a good way past its prime in terms of ripeness when I have whapping fantasies. I think about The Shrub a lot in this way.

WTF is wrong with people that they think this kind of thing’s okay?

Another way they bash/misuse the term “politically correct” as a shield to be a *total garbage person*.

I dismiss pretty much anyone’s opinion as soon as I see the use of “PC”. I no longer have any interest in what that person has to say because it indicates to me that they care less about actual human beings than about not being able to say whatever they want without criticism.

It’s especially hilarious when garbage people get whiny and defensive when people call their garbage out and say PCness is trying to silence them. No dude. No.

I was a little surprised he didn’t get convicted of at least one of these charges, then I remember that this is the city where Rob Ford was the mayor.

In the first few seconds of the interview, Gomeshi quotes the director’s description of the film she was in as an “ethical romance.” Like you would know, asshole. I want to throw things.

Can someone tell a non-American what “just the right amount of damage” means?

it usually means “just the right amount of emotional damage so that it will be easy for me to manipulate you and crush you psychologically, which is what i get off on.”
