A question for Gawker presidential historians:

Have we ever had an American President who previously held no public office and whose only qualifications were an endless stream of skeevy business deals?

I would like to think that at least one POTUS made his name selling a potent, cocaine-laced tincture marketed as a cure for testicular scabies.

I’m not a historian by any means but I believe every president has held an office either through appointment or election.

Some may have had only one or two years (like Hoover I believe) but all held office.

This would make sense given that one would want in their president at least the illusion that they give a shit about public service.

It could also bar the agency from receiving future H-1B visas

Isn’t H-1B visa supposely to be issued ONLY after employers can demostrate that they couldn’t find “qualified” American workers interested in the position? How is this particular model any more qualified compares to other American models?

Congress should just set a quota on the number of H-1B to 20,000 a year and auction them off to highest bidders.

Or maybe apportion them according to our greatest needs, like maybe engineers and nurses and other skilled positions should get visa priority over tall skinny people with symmetrical features.

Do you think Congress can come up with a fair way to decide what’s our “greatest needs?” That’s let employers use cold hard cash to quantify how desperate they needed the service of those people who can do things American employees won’t do. Apple can up their bids to get visa of Jony Ive. Victoria’s Secrets and other s can up their bids for Adriana Lima, etc.

Totally OT, but Comedy Central’s @Midnight had a brilliant hour-long Trump-Sanders debate, tonight. The actors slayed this shit from the mannerism to the accents. Everything was perfect.

Best comedy on television right now. Hardwick is really good. They get a combination of both hungry and established comedians and it is current. Most of it aimed at youth (over 50 here...) and it is very, very funny. Now get awff my lawwwn...

I watch it relgiously, but I have to say tonight’s episode they hit right out of the park. I can’t imagine clips of it not going viral. I’ve never seen better candidate impressions this season; it puts all of the shit on Saturday Night Live this season to shame, and they’ve done a fairly decent job this election cycle. I was literaelly in tears during some of this.

And you know what? When Ted gets his ass handed to him, finally, he’ll fall in lockstep and support this asshole. Because he’s a goddamn coward like the lot of the Republican party.
