People need to be called out for making sexist comments, but I feel like a lot of people have been resigning or getting fired for them. That feels a little counterproductive to me. I’d rather people learn their lesson and keep their job. Teach the lesson you learned the hard way to everyone else in your industry. Apologize. Make amends. But resigning seems a little extreme.

This is a thought provoking take on it.

How would we know that they learned? More importantly, how would female tennis players who have to work with this guy be assured of equitable treatment under his aegis going forward?

Hint: you cannot be assured of any of that, but you have established that he exists in an outdated paradigm that hinders his ability to effectively function in his position, ergo, bye Felicia!

Good. I read his comments yesterday and, aside from thinking he had a ridiculously over-inflated sense of the cultural importance of men’s tennis, I thought his visual of all these women getting on their knees (to pray.... ri-iiiiiight) was the most telling thing.

    What a dickbag.

      The only acceptable conclusion.

It provided me with a better way of figuring out how old people are. If they mentioned Jimmy the Greek, my age.

Serena Williams is arguably the most successful player in the history of tennis. Hell, she’s the most dominant player in ANY professional sport right now. I’d call her the Michael Jordan of tennis, but that’s not really fair: she’s won more championships than Jordan did.

But yeah, I’m sure she’s totally grateful to Roger Federer for “carrying” the sport for her.

“If I was a lady player, I’d go down every night on my knees and thank God that Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal were born, because they have carried this sport.”

*I would also use the Bic For Her ballpoint pen*
