If the original bill was only $77, they must have split two cocktails among them. Seriously, I paid $42 for a gin and tonic at intermission at The Producers (prices weren’t posted, or maybe they were and I didn’t see them).

But at any rate, the only real thing I begrudge the wealthy is the opportunity to be really generous like that. Good on you, Amy. You have indeed been there, it must feel good to make someone’s day like that.

ETA: Not The Producers, The Book of Mormon.

The ones who tip well are usually those who have experienced not having money before. My brother is a bartender at a nice restaurant and man have I seen some country club looking kids skimp on the tip.

Absolutely, as my time in the server trenches taught me well. Which is why I find gestures like this, from someone who really has been there, just great. From her Wikipedia page:

“She returned to New York City after college, where she studied at the William Esper Studio for two years and worked as a bartender and a waitress.”

Tells me all I need to know.

I felt so bad for Ariel Winter and her situation with her mother. So many child stars have difficult relationships with their parents. She has to do what she can to protect herself.

That’s probably because very few children with non-horrible parents end up as child stars.

I would agree with that. I work in Hollywood and people ask all the time why I’m not “saving for BabyStu’s college” by sending him out into the rough wilds of TV and movies (they’re always so desperate for children it’s not hard for babies or toddlers to get work). I just give them the side eye and say, not gonna happen. What I want to say is, my 2yo’s job is to cover himself in mud and try to see how many cheese puffs he can fit in his mouth, not entertain you.

Hey, remember when Marilyn Manson was TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS?

We were all so, so easily trolled in those days.

Related: I had a high school classmate who was skinny and hella flexible. Once he discreetly took a sip of milk, then while seated in an easy chair proceeded to: unzip (but not unbutton) his jeans; stick his hand in his pants and stick his thumb through the open zipper; suck on the thumb for a minute; then spit out the milk.

      Dude graduated from MIT.

RE Amy Schumer. Very sweet of her, but I worry anytime people in entertainment spend money like that. I’m always like “do you think it will keep flowing in like this forever???” But then, I grew up poor. There’s a good tip - which is a must, I’ll grant you - and then there’s raining hundred dollar bills around and wondering why you don’t have as much in the bank as you think you should.

Amy Schumer is incredibly generous, which makes me love her more. On another note, my friend was in a box seat on that same night (Saturday) and was sitting next to Prince. No word on how much Prince tips.

Why does Mindy continuously think she’s so zany and original for enjoying sustanance? Pretty sure that was considered hip and cool with it like 2 billion years ago when it first started.

On the one hand, I agree with this sentiment (it’s never novel to trumpet oneself as The Cool Girl Who Likes Food, and my eyes rolled vigorously upon reading that particular caption); on the other hand, of course Mindy, Olivia, and all women grew up, and continue to live, in a world where pressures and incentives are ubiquitously present to make them feel bad for eating food beyond mere sustenance, not striving for minimum weight, etc. (especially so for actors!). So it would make sense to relish one’s victory of independence from such external shouts, and if such relishment includes some public parading, well, that’s only natural...

In short: ...I don’t know. I wanted to be annoyed with people, but maybe it’s better to not be annoyed with people. Empathy beats unnecessary irritation.

I have a Russian coworker with zero filter who enjoys proclaiming “Oh, look, she’s EATING!” because I’m petite if she sees me ingest food. One of these days, I’m going to take my lunch and shove it in her face. She is ALWAYS commenting on whether or not I’m eating, my body, and my business. She’s the type who asked my newly married coworker (who had been trying to get pregnant for months, but had been struggling) when she would get a move on and get pregnant already.

I think that being able to tip outrageously like that would be one of the best parts of being wealthy. Also, seeing Hamilton.

I would pay $50 dollars to have a conversation with MM circa 1998/1999

I would pay $100 dollars to NOT have to sit in between those two dudes while they do that.

I would also pay $50 d0llars to hang out with Mindy Kaling and I would want $10 back if Olivia Munn joined in. Sorry Olivia.

I would pay $150 for Adam Levine to go away forever.
