So what happens in a year? Will he have a lifetime restraining order placed against him automatically or will she have to go through this court shit again?

Is dude going to be given treatment while in jail or are they just gonna hold him up in there while he vents and gets angerier about her rejection and disinterest, til his release?

If I’m reading this correctly, because he rejected a deal that would have afforded him time served, he’ll probably be back in jail for four years.

Is he actually going to serve a full 4 years, even with rejecting the time served? If yes, that’s good, but still, what happens in four years when he’s served his time?

He seems like he’ll just pick right up on this again. 10 years is serious dedication to your creepiness. Especially if there’s no rehabilitation involved.

Ugh, the one tiny, dingy upside of him acting as his own attorney is that everybody saw the unhinged, unfiltered crazy. He didn’t have counsel to tell him to wear this or that or keep his head down; he just unleashed everywhere and I’m sure every person in the jury box was “Holy hell, GUILTY. Oh, wait, this is opening arguments, but still.”

Would people stop stop thanking “god” first and foremost? FINALLY the law worked in this case, and thankfully for her. It’s terrifying that she had to endure this for a decade.

But if you’re going to thank “god” for the good... can we at least acknowledge he caused the bad too? You can’t have one without the other.

You’re language policing a stalking victim who’s been dealing with it for 10 years, and who just finally got a modicum of justice. Not the time or place for your 2 cents worth.

Hurd was somehow allowed to serve as his own legal council, giving him the opportunity to personally grill the object of his obsession

      OMG

I seriously cannot believe that this was permitted. It’s disgusting.

_Why_ are the penalties so damn short for this crime? Does the legal system think these guys will repent in prison or something?

This is some traumatizing shit. Female celebrities have to deal with some fucked up shit. For whatever reason, this case keeps bringing back memories of the time I watched a documentary about Bjork’s stalker. I don’t know why I watched it, but now it’s burned in my brain. Ugh. I hope this man leaves her alone from now on and Ashanti finds a way to get past this.

I didn’t know about her. Jfc. The sense of ownership ordinary losers feel over random famous women is astounding. And it brings to mind what someone else said on another post about Ashanti’s stalker: if this is what a celebrity with a reputation has to deal with, what hope is there for other women, who don’t have lawyers and bodyguards to help protect us?

“Why can’t women just be honest and upfront with a guy that they’re not interested in?”

“Why don’t women just call the police when they feel unsafe”

          Literally this.

So the whole, Anthony Weiner defence, didn’t work out for you then.
