I know everyone is going to post on here about Warren and Sherrod Brown, but remember - to get anything done (in a world where we can’t waive Bernie Sanders’ magic wand around and click our heels together of course), we need to win Congress too, especially at least the Senate to stop the obstruction of all nominations and allow for progress on some fronts. Nominating either of Warren or Sherrod Brown as VP would mean handing the Rs back a Senate seat as a gift, at least for a year or so until the special elections are held (and remember how well the Massachusetts Dems did with their last sure-fire win in a special Senate election...).

With the Senate already hanging in the balance in this election and a 50-50 or 51-49 outcome very plausible right now based on current polling, that’s a shooting yourself in the foot kind of move Hillary’s team is just not going to make. So even if she nominates a progressive to appeal to Bernie supporters, she’s likely not going to pick either of those two, no matter how much you like them.

tl:dr: A Dem president with a Dem Senate majority that includes Elizabeth Warren can get more positive progressive things done then a Dem president with a Republican Senate obstructing every single nomination, while Elizabeth Warren sits in the VP’s office twiddling her thumbs. Warren and Clinton both know this.

Banking on Warren in 2024, would hate to see her get burnt out by 8 years of veep.

If Sanders keeps up the pace, he may force her to choose him as the VP for any hope of party reconciliation. She seems to already have the support of the party’s minority voters, so while it may seem logical for her to choose a minority VP to lock in that support, she may need to do something drastic to appeal to disenchanted progressives instead.

Let’s say Sanders passes away during her two terms however. Would Paul Ryan’s Congress confirm his successor?

It's like you're willfully ignoring the obvious: William Jefferson Clinton will be the VP, once they get Cathy Durant out of the way.

Why wouldn’t she just pick one of the Castro brothers, who are Mexican and from Texas. Since Mexicans are by far the largest group of Latinos in the U.S., and both Castro brothers are young and hot, that just might also help her electorally.

The brother she doesn’t pick goes home with me.

Julian Castro would rival Sarah Palin for being unqualified for the job (at least until Trump nominates someone even less qualified). He’s a smart eloquent guy, so he beats her by a mile on that front, but Mayor of San Antonio is a largely ceremonial position, and he’s only been running HUD, as low a profile cabinet department as it gets except maybe Veterans Affairs, for a year. He also doesn’t actually speak Spanish, which will make for some awkward attempts at voter outreach to the Latino communities he’d have been added to the ticket to bring in the support of. He’s not a realistic option. More likely he runs for Senate or Gov of Texas in a few years as Latino voter registration grows and a Dem victory becomes more plausible.

He has to win them by landslides (75% or more) because there are plenty of ststes left he’s still going to lose, and he’s massively behind in elected delegates (never mind super delegates). He has about a 1% chance of winning the nomination at this point.

That’s actually an exaggeration of the numbers. He would need between 58-60%. I know those are long odds, but I for one am not ready to lay down and let the Bush/Clinton dynasties back in the door.

Sanders is incredibly popular in California (which has 475 delegates, enough to close the gap with one landslide victory).

One of the Castro brothers for VP - the Castro brothers from Texas, not the ones actually in Cuba (although, the GOP will assume they are the same people).

Although, Hillary has no shot at Texas so Castro doesn’t give electoral help other than maybe increasing Hispanic turnout overall.

I suspect, however, that Hillary will pick a boring White dude just so that some people’s heads don’t explode over a woman/Hispanic dude on the same ticket.

rather than a somewhat progressive labor guy to appeal to lefties who will probably suck it up and vote for her anyhow.

That’s a hell of a gamble to take, and about as tone deaf as can be expected from the DNC and establishment democrats.

Trump voters would be. Partisans would be responsible for being tone deaf over running a candidate with a 55% unfavorable or trust rating.

      A. Sanders would be immensely more effective in the Senate, especially post-primary run.

      B. VP is kind of a pointless role, particularly for a Senator.

      C. I don’t think Sanders is interested in a VP role, nor do I think Clinton’s interested in having him as a VP.
