A reprimand letter can actually be pretty nasty for an officer. It can be a slow death to a military career.

You know what else can do that? A jail sentence and dishonorable discharge.

Mistakes were made and people should be held accountable for that but when you see a shot to take down a terrorist I think you gotta take it.

At what point do you become a terrorist yourself? Blowing up a fucking hospital seems a lot like a terrorist act to me.

Not enough. Not nearly enough. The line between civilization and anarchic violence has been stretched really thin these days. Bombing this hospital is pushing that line to an asymptotic extent. Not good. Not good at all. Every time this story comes up, I send them another $100. I guess I’ll do it again tomorrow.

Also: “Never become involved in a land war in Asia.”

“Never become involved in a land war in Asia.”

“Never become involved in a land war in Asia.”

When are people going to learn this? It’s been an axiom for several hundred years...

It doesn’t apply to America, because America is exceptional.

THIS IS WHAT FOREIGN POLICY EXPERTS ACTUALLY BELIEVE

No. You’re kidding. People actually believe that? Axioms like this have been around for years BECAUSE THEY ARE TRUE. Never become involved in a land war in Asia. My God, Bush Senior was never known to be the brightest bulb in the pack, but even he knew this. What is going on? Devolution?

Augh! We are going to be conquered and defeated by our own arrogance and stupidity!

Much better than nothing, not really enough to show international law is being taken seriously enough though.

That said, it’s far more than the Saudis are going to do despite bombing numerous hospitals in Yemen. I suppose in relative terms our position is on the responsible end, globally.

The Saudis bought the cluster bombs they use on Yemeni civilians from Americans, though. Kinda evens things out.

And many of the US weapons that the Saudis purchased were manufactured by Clinton Foundation donors, with the sales approved by Hillary’s State Department.

I really wish that my fellow Lefties could muster the integrity to be as livid about Obama’s drone program as they were by GWB’s torture program.

They won’t. Just like when Bill Clinton was blowing up Asprin plants in Afghanistan and starving civilians in Iraq, the only people who were standing against it were Conservatives - for completely cynical reasons.

Murdering foreigners because we can is actually bipartisan consensus in America.

Lefty here. Livid about Obama’s drone program, his illegal domestic surveillance program and...aw fuck, a list that’s too long to measure.

“Disciplined” isn’t really an adequate “charged with war crimes” but I guess we need to take what we can get, Hillary Clinton style.
