    Well I guess we knew this was gonna happen. It is very obvious that the establishment is out for blood (though barely drawing a drop), and by not playing ball he can control the narrative from now until the nomination is decided. It’s not going to hurt his numbers at all and it’s not like he does anything except for bluster and insult his way through debates anyway, so why not?

    ETA: I think the most honest think Trump has said this entire election season is “I’m just the messenger.” He’s right. It doesn’t matter what he does, he is the voice of a very angry and hateful section of this country who don’t give a shit—however it has to be done, this is their time to be heard. He could go into hiding from now until the convention and win the nomination, it doesn’t matter—the floodgates have already been opened. He is the messenger for the absolute worse that this country has to offer.

    The question is, is he really removing himself from the line of fire, or just giving Kasich and Cruz free reign to attack him for two hours without fear of rebuttal? Because if Kasich and Cruz have any sense, they will play nicey-nice with each other and make the debate a joint “We Hate Trump” convention.

    Trump managed to slay both Bush and Rubio (with Christie’s assistance) by mocking them during the debates. I’m not sure avoiding them is actually a positive for him.

    He’s not just skipping, right? He’s holding a ‘press conference’ which, for some reason, no one has caught on to that being his way of manipulating the press into giving him free airtime to sell steaks and xenophobia. I hate him with every atom in my cells, but he is a master manipulator and if that’s what they teach at Trump U, I’d like to sign up.
