For all of its faults, Id say Gawker has the best (most entertaining/level of quality) comment section on the internet. Any other comments section come close? I’m excluding Reddit as its more of a forum.

I agree that Gawker / Kinja is the best of the bunch. Even the trolls here are of a higher calibre than most sites.

Man, Marco Rubio. I was scared as fuck of that guy. I thought he was the savior of the Republican party. They ate him alive though. Crazy world.

Craziest fucking election season I’ve ever seen and I’m 65. I’ve moved beyond trying to figure anything out and make sense of it and now I’ve gone straight to cocktail time starts early in the afternoon.

I still can’t believe that there was a time not too long ago that I was actually convinced the GOP nomination was in the bag for Scott Walker...

I will say, good for him for saying it. But he’s going to lose anyway. None of them should win, but I liked that he pointed out that Trump has STILL not addressed the crazy man who slugged that guy. No class at all. None.

Hey! Donald Trump has the classiest denial in the world...and the biggest. There’s gonna be so much denial you’re gonna get tired of it!

He did address him. Trump said that his team is looking in to paying for the man’s legal defense.

    He mentioned me!*

Pardon me, my good sir, but where might I purchase the T-Shirt on the right? Or do I have to make it myself, with markers?

It’s interesting to me that “accessible healthcare” is now up there on the conservative clutch list along with guns and god.

Amazing how passionate you can be about something when your motive is racism.

“But normal people—i.e. most of the millions of voters in Florida—probably don’t understand the profile of the internet commenter...”

I’m not sure that most Floridians are normal, and I’m pretty sure that the notion that comment sections are often cesspools of reactionary anti-intellectualism is now a widely accepted fact.

Florida is a scary place to drive. Full of elderly and mentally incapacitated people with slow reflexes. On top of that, parts of the state are packed with tourists who have no idea where they are going and are blindly following a GPS or phone. And all the locals are on drugs.

Rubio’s wrong. The worst comment sections are under local newspapers, not blogs. Oh, and Yahoo.

You know, lately I’ve made the mistake of clicking on a few of those little news stories that Facebook promotes to the right of your feed. It immediately shows you what the people of Facebook are posting about the story, and it’s always mindblowingly horrible.

As an internet commentor, I would add: “There are no Republican candidates this election cycle remotely fit for the office of POTUS. This is unprecedented in my lifetime. In years past, even if I didn’t vote for the guy, I could always still expect business as usual to continue no matter who won the election. This is not the case in 2016.”

“Donald Trump is not a serious candidate. His entire campaign seems like an elaborate indulgence of his ego and insecurity - almost as if he is trying to prove his legitimacy to himself. Ted Cruz’s ideas, if codified, would be more destructive in the long term to the American way of life than anything ISIS could ever do to us. Kasich only seems maginally acceptable because he’s largely kept his mouth shut. Marco Rubio is a harmless bit of fluff, and a glassy-eyed political lightweight.”

I see what your problem is, Marco. Reality is sinking in.

Also, the commenters of this website are great and its writers never make derisive comparisons about the type of people they are.
