If Sanders was on the show this article would be going on and on about what a funny old guy he is and how cool it is that Ilana and Abbi support him etc. etc. except we get this. Maybe they respect HRC because they are both women in a male-dominated industry they get all the shit that she has been through and how hard it is to be heard and taken seriously. If HRC had Sanders’ record I highly doubt she would have made it this far in the election. This is the type of shit I put up with all the time in engineering. You work your ass off, then some white guy comes along after doing nothing his entire career going on and on about how he has some new and special ideas which aren’t really new or special at all and then, all of a sudden, he is promoted over you, even though you are the most qualified. I never thought it was really like that, but it really is and it is sad that it is still going on in 2016. I’m starting to think that maybe it will take another 500 years before women are on an equal level as men.

RBG has dealt with the same type of BS on the Supreme Court for 20 years. She’s said that during discussions with other justices she’s made a point and gotten no response, but when a man repeats her point 5 minutes later it’s suddenly heard. I’m sorry you (and we) are still dealing with this in 2016 but you are blazing a trail and other women will follow. When there are enough of you in your field (apparently that magic number is 3 out of 9 on the Supreme Court), the dynamics will shift and you’ll start being recognized.

She “worked her ass off” supporting DOMA and three strikes. And she’s still winning the nomination. Boo hoo. She’s a woman though, so I guess that matters over her actual politics. I guess when you’re comfortable and well-fed, your priorities are different.

Am I the only one who just doesn’t get the appeal of Broad City? Is it just me?

I really enjoy the show now but it did take me a few episodes to get into it.

I am personally a Clinton supporter but will of course vote for Sanders if he is the nominee. I feel it pains Jezebel to say anything positive about Clinton. She is on Broad City this week and the story is Abbi and Ilana are not endorsing her! They were also reading her biography in the show’s opening sequence.

I just found the headline surprising because I mistakenly thought that they had already endorsed her. I guess I wasn't paying enough attention and read too much into the photos of them with her back when it was announced that Hillary would be on Broad City.

I think this is great. Maybe Ilana and Abbi feel similar to how I feel, which is that while both candidates have ups and downs I’m a dem who supports other dems, and I will proudly cast my vote for either Bernie or Hillary. The squabbling is getting bad, and it only serves to divide us when we need to stand strong against the republican nightmare candidates. Internal criticism is a great and useful thing, and debating Hillary vs. Bernie is good, but lately 90% of what I see is mean and nasty, and demeaning to both sides.

I hate the fighting too. I will vote for whomever gets the nomination, and I can’t stand the division and occasional raging (which, elections are frustrating so I understanding the raging bit). I have a candidate I am supporting, but lost a lot of the excitement in supporting them openly when the in-fighting started.

What “squabbling?” They are running against each other for the presidential nomination. They have policy differences. They have differences in values. They are airing those differences. Voters need/want to know their positions. I have not heard anything ugly, or personal out of either of their mouths directed at each other or even the assholes on the other side.

I think it’s fine for them not to endorse anyone. Not everyone has to pick a side. I can’t even lie, I’m fucking pumped just to see the awe/respect for Hillary that I feel personally. Disagree with some of the political decisions she’s made all you want, there’s a group of us that see her as a rockstar for being the transformative and controversial figure she is and growing up with her as a role model. I would probably freak out super hard to her face, too.

Fat lot of good it does me anyway, my primary’s already come and gone. I was so lost due to their lack of endorsement that I absent-mindedly wrote in “Paul Tsongas.”

Well, sure they’re not openly endorsing Hillary Clinton but I think we can all agree that they’ve really started a national dialogue about endorsing Hillary Clinton.

Big, non-trolling question here that I need help with. Hillary has said on numerous occasions that she’s not an establishment figure, that she’s working towards the best interest of the average person. She’s particularly interested in the plight of the youth at the moment, and is trying to tap into a market that Bernie’s grassroot campaign has made its living on.

So, in an attempt to not appear like the establishment choice, she hangs out with...the 1%? Celebrities?

I’m not saying the women she’s partnering with aren’t sympathetic to the plight of young women across the country, in spite of my apprehension to certain figures (cough, Lena Dunham, cough) that are on the campaign trail for her. But doesn’t reaching out to these celebrities, who also fairly wealthy and have more of a platform than most, also hint at the idea that HillDog is maaaaaaaybe a little more establishment than she’d like to let on?

Again, this is just my viewpoint, I’m more than open to having a discourse as to what I have wrong here.

All political figures reach out to celebrities for endorsements because it means a popular/famous face for fans to attach to their campaign. Her having these women (and the women of Shondaland) is a big nothing burger when it comes to whether or not she is establishment.

Even Sanders, who is going hard as the non-establishment pick, has celebrities campaigning for him. You have men like Mark Ruffalo, Sean McFarlane, and Adam McKay as outspoken advocates of him - I would argue that they are far more “establishment” than Abbi and Ilana.

Jezebel... You just grossed me out.

The show does all of that gushing and love about Hillary... and it looks like this site is clinging to the “They didn’t directly SAY they were for Hillary!! The characters are probably Bernie voters!!”

I get it. This site loves Bernie. I have to go to other sites to actually learn what the actual voting is saying, and what Bernie’s actual policies are. Did I miss the article where he flat out said he was going to end systemic racism in the United States?

There was such a PUSH of “Don’t just vote for Hillary because she’s a woman”, and now I think it’s more than that. Now it feels like the site is saying, “Don’t vote for Hillary at all!”, and looks for any slight she makes to blow out and vilify her.

I’m not saying she’s perfect or that I can’t see why Bernie has a lot to offer. I’m just saying... You’re getting gross, Jezebel.

The article says they were asked directly if they endorsed Hillary and they said no. So the headline is correct—Hillary is appearing on Broad City and the cast/show runners are gushy about her, but they don’t officially endorse her. This isn’t a negative article about Hillary.

And if I based my comment on just the title, I’d agree with you. I, in fact, read the whole article, and am commenting on the tone of the whole piece. I’m sorry, and you can totally disagree with me, but in my opinion I’m getting tired of article after article on this site and Gawker that push an agenda so hard at me.

Like I’ve said, I’ve gone off site to read more balanced pieces and to educate myself on each candidate. I think both Hillary and Bernie deserve a more balanced approach. Going off this site, I totally have a better idea of each of them, and I don’t think either is perfect, or that either is a villain.
