Think about how much affirmation this guy must have received over the course of his life to feel unwaveringly justified in this. Being him must be the opposite of being a young woman. You can’t feel shame ever. Only pride.

“Yeah well when I raped her I had no idea she would actually make me suffer any consequences! It’s not fair! This is real sexism, guys!”

Well, I guess he can spend the rest of his life with every relationship he has railing on how he wuz wronged and the world is out to get him. And that he’s not a bad man even though his actions/thoughts contradict his image. But as long as he has his image he’ll go far in life. I think there’s an opening in Trump’s cabinet for guys like that.

What kind of lawyer does he have that didn’t foresee this? I’m seriously curious about the line of thinking there.

Nonetheless, Nungesser’s lawyer has implied that they will file an amended complaint “in our pursuit of justice.”

Justice? Uh Huh. Is that what monsters are calling the act of being monstrous, these days?

He was found innocent by the college. What justice does he want? He graduated fine.

I think it’s about rehabilitating his reputation at this point. People who google him are inevitably going to find that he was involved in a high-profile rape case and that his innocence looks very unlikely despite the outcome.

Companies that repair reputations online do it by spamming google with positive or neutral coverage, banal blogs, etc, in an attempt to change the story. I think he’s doing something similar here by continually playing the victim so that when you google him what comes up is his perspective and version of the story.

I mean I’m not surprised this lawyer is taking the case. About a month ago in my hometown, the star quarterback from our college threatened to sue the University system for expelling him for sexual assault. Keep in mind they expelled him, and then they let him appeal, and he lost the appeal. People were pissed though because he was found not guilty by a jury when he was charged, but its my understanding that they basically slut shamed the girl and who would say no to sleeping with the star quarterback!? Also aren’t schools allowed to reach their own conclusions based on Title IX? Anyways, he threatened to sue and the state of Montana for emotional distress or some shit and they gave him $250,000. So maybe we will start seeing people profiting from raping someone. Yay!

Title IX has a different burden of proof than a criminal court. A criminal court functions on the “without a reasonable doubt” level of proof, while schools adjudicate Title IX on a “more likely than not” level of proof so it makes sense that he was found not guilty and still to have violated Title IX

clarasanchez is a faux-assault-victim concern troll spamming the comments with bullshit. you can check their comment history to see what i mean. i’ve been flagging all their comments as spam. any comments directly to you you can dismiss (which makes them disappear from the thread).

“Nungesser’s argument rests on a logical fallacy. He assumes that because the allegations against him concerned a sexual act that everything that follows from it is ‘sex-based’ within the meaning of Title IX. He is wrong. Taken to its logical extreme , Nungesser’s position would lead to the conclusion that those who commit, or are accused of committing, sexual assault are a protected class under Title IX.”

      Bye, Felipe.
