This is so ridiculous it feels like an alternate universe. This situation, on top of everything else, would be the end of practically any campaign, Republican or Democrat, at any point over the last several decades or so.

Which is why I’m happy Trump is shook. He should be scared. You/your campaign terrorize other people? Lie about it and play innocent/victim? Enjoy getting it back in return. I hope he’s looking over his shoulder for the rest of his pathetic campaign.

Probably for the rest of his life. People hate him, and he will never apologize about being the source of that hate. I mean “passion”. It’s a beautiful thing.

Ugh, I know we generally agree that Trump is not hurt by any of this but that his ceiling is low. I also know that stepping into the Breitbart comment section for evidence is tenuous at best. However, I present exhibits A and B:

It would seem that Conservatives understand the First Amendment as well as they do the Second.

I don’t really understand the strategy here, on either side. Breitbart should’ve demanded an apology, and Trump’s people should’ve immediately apologized, with both probably couching it in “we don’t know all the facts yet, but...” terms, and that probably would’ve been the end of it. But no, both of them have to emphasize what garbage organizations filled with garbage people they are, in case we didn’t realize this already.

Fields went on to say “Because I have a cerebral cortex and at least an average amount of human empathy, I’m starting to extrapolate this to other scenarios we’ve covered in the conservative media and wondering whether we’ve been too quick to dismiss and mock claims of abuse, sexism, and racism in the past,” right? Right?

No one should be treated like this, but I do hope this is going to be Fields’ come to reasonable Jesus moment and she realizes her entire worldview is wrong.

“I think the facts show that this happened, and it’s a shame that my bosses have decided to come out against the facts.”

So weird. It’s almost as if, despite having worked at Breitbart, she is not at all familiar with Breitbart.

Wow, thank you for that. Love this:

—“So if you don’t care about the facts, or the evidence, or civility, in general in making your arguments, you will end up with candidates who will say just about anything and do just about anything. And when your answer to every proposal that I make, or Democrats make is no, it means that you’ve got to become more and more unreasonable because that’s the only way you can say no to some pretty reasonable stuff. And then you shouldn’t be surprised when your party ultimately has no ideas to offer at all.”—

(Though I’m annoyed that the Toronto Star doesn’t seem to know the correct way to punctuate multi-paragraph quotes. This is the problem with being a copy editor — I'm anal retentive for a living and it's hard to turn off.)

      That’s good, but omg THIS:

But they’ve got to acknowledge why this happened — because some of them have been writing that, ‘Well, the reason our party is going crazy is because of Obama.’ Which is a pretty novel idea. The notion is Obama drove us crazy.”

“Now, the truth is, what they really mean is their reaction to me was crazy and now it has gotten out of hand. But that’s different. I didn’t cause the reaction. The reaction is something that they have to take responsibility for and then figure out how do we make an adjustment.”

I see Megyn Kelly has cut her hair off. I wonder if she’s trying to make the jump to a more “legitimate” news outlet, between the GQ shit, calling out Trump etc.

I wonder if she would actually turn out to be something more resembling an acceptable person then.

Not a doubt in my mind she’s been gunning for another gig for awhile now. She’s been gloating about good press about her more “reasonable” moments. There was a NY Times article about them that she was really proud of.

Of course, these moments do not cancel out all of the awful race baiting ones or her other bad moments. But, on a PR level, I do think she is actively and intentionally trying to market herself as the “reasonable” one to get the hell off of Fox.

As I said below, if anything she’s said exactly the right things to piss people off in that regard, but not so much that she can’t be potentially “redeemed” later that it speaks more to her intelligence than otherwise.

So Michelle Fields go on Megyn Kelly’s show...another reporter who had a Trump encounter downplayed.

It’s almost as if organizations that promote stifling women’s rights...don’t care about women’s rights. Did they think playing ball would have immunized them to this?

So Conservatives are flummoxed on how to deal with conservative on conservative crime. It’s complicated when you can’t just bemoan PC culture and dismiss a person as a SJW.
