I love when gawker writers, who have contributed to destroying discourse among young people, take an ironic distance from the fruit of their editorial nihilism. It doesn’t absolve you.

Please tell me that this is not a typo, but rather an attempt to avoid including the gender-normative word “son” in “person.” That would simply make my day.

It’s so easy to make fun of these kids.

Yes, they’re ridiculous. But they will settle down and get things right in future.

Let’s give these kids a little room, and allow them the courtesy of acknowledging that they’re actually working to remedy—or advocating to, anyway—some of the major problems in our society.

Btw: Western is a great school.

Holy fucking shit. I thought, naively, that “persxn” was an innocent, though weird, typo. No. It is not. No way, Jose (Joseph, Joe, what have you, if you are not Latino...or various other cultures that may include Jose in their naming lexicons. If I have excluded other provenances of the esteemed and ancestral Christian name of Jose ((one does not need to be a Christian to be named Jose. One can be of any creed or color)) I sincerely apologize for any perceived microaggression. (((I do not mean to shift the onus of corroborating one’s actual oppression onto the oppressed group))). PERSXN is an intentional alteration of the English word “person,” to divest of its gendered suffix “son.”

The PC gestapo has played an unwitting role in the ascendancy of Trump. Feel free to convince me otherwise.

Particularly ridiculous because the second syllable in the English word “person” has nothing to do with the English word “son.” The words have completely different origins. The fact that those letters are collected together in the same order in both words is coincidental.

No you are correct on the effect of PC Gestapo contributing to the Trump phenomenon. Van Jones brought it up and made some great comments regarding it on CNNs coverage.

First, it is paramount to acknowledge that the campus of Western Washington University is occupying Nooksack and Lummi land. As we work, we must continuously think about the legacy of colonialism upon which we stand.

Let’s go ahead and appoint an Office of Social Transformation committee member to walk the aisles of each classroom on campus and periodically bend down to whisper in randomly-selected students’ ears “are you thinking about colonialism? It needs to be continuous!”

These groups typically don’t genuinely care about ableism or antisemitism, the two things they managed to fuck up in their list. The formatting of the signature form on the petition wouldn’t work with a screen reader. How are blind people supposed to know how to sign it?

And then the school with the 57 million dollar endowment shutters its doors, and the state sells off its land, and yada, yada, the nice public school doesn’t exist anymore.

If college students protested at their state capitols and demanded funding, they might make a difference.

Also, why is it all of a sudden college students think they should run HR committees? I get the need for representation at the table, but... what?
