What are the odds, right? Both siblings? I’m sorry Lilly didn’t get to have full control of her own narrative as Lana did, but seeing lightning strike twice, in a way, is kind of fantastic.

(Patting myself on the back rn for being one of the surely very many people who sent this in.)

I don’t know the statistics, but I thought this was actually quite common—or at least, in cases of twins. I dunno if the Wachowkis are twins though.

Let's just, like, any time someone wants to interview Caitlyn, they just go to the Wachowski sisters instead? Can we do that? For a better tomorrow?

OR...maybe an average, every day transwoman or man. Those stories are probably less Hollywood (a tolerant place compared to Idaho) and more “Main St”.

Sort of off-topic, but I really liked Jupiter Ascending. It grew on me over time. Milo Kunis’ acting definitely helped, but I also grew to like the movie itself. It felt to me that it had been chewed on a bit in post-production, as if maybe the Director’s Cut would have improved it quite a bit.

On the other hand, look how they handled their own narrative in the Matrix sequels.

The pretend universe that the Daily Mail lives in, apparently. They love insisting they’re a legitimate news outlet.

The Daily Mail is fucking disgusting.

Lilly Wachowski’s statement, however - and her smile in that header picture - make my heart sing.

Yuss. Wachowski sisters > Caitlyn Jenner as far as trans roll models go. I’m actually kind of happy Jenner is out there, lest people assume all trans folk are a monolith, but Lilly’s statements are golden.

This author, and mainstream trans discourse, says “the woman she always was,” while Lilly says

“But the reality, my reality is that I’ve been transitioning and will continue to transition all of my life, through the infinite that exists between male and female as it does in the infinite between the binary of zero and one. We need to elevate the dialogue beyond the simplicity of binary. Binary is a false idol.”

    Contradiction?

I think a lot of people value the overall social/political struggle over authentically conveying individual narratives - when there's a perceived conflict between them.

I think we should respect gay/trans people even if any or all aspects of their identity were a matter of choice. Never agreed with “born this way” as the basis on which to demand rights and respect.

I think they’re going with “The Wachowskis” for now. A lot of fans of their work are pretty confused, so that’s kind of easier. And they’re famous enough for it to be recognized.
