    Buster update —

    Buster’s bites have almost healed, so he’s finally out of his cone and ridiculously happy about it. He spent the last two days ecstatically itching everywhere.

    He’s still pretty shaken up, though. He won’t go within a block of where the attack happened, and he’s been uncharacteristically timid on walks and when I took him to the dog park. Usually he’s sure he’s the biggest dog at the park and swaggers around confidently surveying his domain. But yesterday whenever any of the other dogs (even the tiny ones!) snapped or tried to show dominance, he’d make this painful little squeaking sound and come running to get on my lap. Generally he hates to be on my lap in public and hates even more when I pick him up — he’s a BIG dog, damn it — but his confidence is just shattered. He still had fun, but it just broke my heart to see him so easily frightened. My poor PTSD baby.

    Here he is being adorable after I took the cone off (ETA — wow, those are huge pics, sorry).
