    Just reading this yesterday. It is quite amazing to think back on.

    People forget what an extraordinary thing it was that Bush was president. Dubya wasn’t merely ignorant when compared with other politicians or other famous people. No, he would have stood out as dumb in just about any setting.

      What are you talking about? All the hardware on an email system for classified material is by NSA definition classified. The level of classification ffor the equipment is the same as the material that is sent over it. A technician with a clearance would have to be available to work on that server.

    The US has a completely laughable cyber-security program. In that, they really don’t have one. Corporations can do as they want, there are no standards, no protections, no oversight at any level of government or corporate. It’s probably the most important field in the coming decades and our politicians and government are using their power to build back doors into hardware and software, making us even less secure, while leaving citizens at the mercy of anyone and everyone. The sole mode of defense we have is to have draconian sentences for hackers that the government hopes will “scare them straight”, so a person might get 50 years for doing a minor thing like downloading free studies from a university computer. Yet our politicians will drone on and on about how we only have X many aircraft carriers and jets so we can go to fake war for no reason, as our internet and privacy is under attack on a daily basis and is a real problem.

      Do you work in a field with classified data? There are protocals in place, technical information sent over email classified or protected can be considered exporting and if you do it to non friendly nations or even any foreign country or non cleared person there are huge penalties including fines, losing your ability to export goods, handle classified info and jail time. Stfu about shit you don’t know about. I’ll agree it’s still pretty sloppy but you can def get fucked for it.
